BGR Regional Power Rankings- CKY/Lex Metro
#1
BGR continues to try and be the fore-runner for High School Football Discussion throughout the State of Kentucky. With this in mind, we are unveiling a new feature updated weekly to better serve all areas of the State from Pikeville to Paducah and elicit more discussion in the process.

These are the inaugural Bluegrass Rivals Regional Power Rankings!

We will rank the Top 5 in each region of the stat, based on a "pound for pound" basis. We will take into account Strength of Schedule, margin of victory/defeat, magnitude of games, and come to a conclusion.

Rankings are meant for discussion, and your feedback is what we want to hear whether you agree or not. Make your case for your team!

CKY/LEX:
1. Lexington Catholic- The Knights got dismantled by nationally ranked Ensworth, TN for all to witness, but aside from that they have taken care of business 3 Quality 6A teams and a very good 3A Bell County team.

2. Scott County- The knock on the Cardinals is Highlands seal clubbed them, but Highlands does that to a lot of teams. They have otherwise breezed through a fairly tame schedule.

3. Bryan Station- Defenders lost playign down to a very good Bell County team, otherwise they have been dominant.

4. Franklin County- Flyers have flown past all comers on an easy schedule. best win was 1A Frankfort, but the Flyers have won by the margins you'd expect.

5. Henry Clay- Blue Devils have proven to be one of the best offensive teams in the state and have three quality wins including playing down vs. 3A Belfry. They also gave a very good John Hardin perhaps their toughest game thusfar, a close loss to a solid 6A Ryle team is what holds them so low.

Sounds about right. Maybe LCA in there somewhere, though on a lower level, have done all they could to win their games. No other can come close around here.

I guess you're just now putting the inaugural regional posts on the forum.
So am I correct that there will be 6 regions. West, South, North, Lou., Lex-Central,
Mountain?

Correct

This is something we tossed around and decided to move forward with now that we are far enough along into the season to make an educated guess at it (with emphasis on guess). The goal is introduce more teams people may not be familiar with an encourage discussion about regions which may not be as heavily represented.

Plus, most rankings are pretty cut and dry and more concerned with "you can't move so and so ahead because they haven't lost" or "you can't penalize so and so for winning". These are not designed for that. This is more of a ranking to represent who's hot and who is making noise with a tougher schedule. For example in the West I don't think Mayfield would beat teams ranked below them, but I think pound for pound they have earned the ranking bestowed upon them for challenging themselves and beating teams with 2 or 3 times their enrollment.

We think if nothing else it gives us all something else to discuss and get people's takes from varying backgrounds.

Some other questions to debate:

- Who gets the edge, Danville or LCA? Along with Frankfort, who would be considered the best small school in Central KY?

- How far down the list would you have to go to find Boyle County if this was extrapolated out?

- Can Bourbon County crack the Top 5? If so what would it take?
