Recap from the Breathitt Co. Grid-O-Rama:
Good experience for all 3 teams that were involved: Prestonsburg, Bryan Station, Breathitt County.
Bryan Station is full of athletes and team speed. They seemed to be headed in the right direction under new coach Craig Yeast. Breathitt County was...well...Breathitt County. Good team speed, aggressiveness, and man to they like to hit. Typical Breathitt County team. Future matchup with Belfry may be a must-see.
Prestonsburg played without senior MLB/TE Adam Griffith, who was nursing a rib injury and was held out as a precaution, and ATH Grant Anderson, who was only recently cleared to resume playing after a summer baseball injury. In spite of this, this was a great experience for the young Blackcats who look to replace alot of leadership and experience from last year's team. QB Jaredd Jarrell was thrown into the fire immediately against Breathitt County, and was poised and played well. Pburg was obviously throwing the ball most of the time in order to get Jarrell as much game experience as possible. Defensively, Prestonsburg was very, very young and it showed, but they played remarkably well considering the talent of the opposing teams.
This was a great experience for all teams. Pburg won't face a team as physical as Breathitt very often, and won't face a team as loaded with athletes as Bryan Station is. Likewise, those 2 teams probably won't face a team that throws it as much as Prestonsburg.

Thanks for the update cat86. Will Griffith be ready Friday? His experience will be needed against Perry Co. Central.

Breathitt didn't do as well as I expected. They have plenty of depth but I don't think they have the aggressiveness to win state. If Trent goes down there is no one breathitt can depend on at QB

Yes. Both Griffith and Anderson are cleared and will be playing at full strength vs. PCC.

How did Breathitt look. I have been hearing some positive and negative things about the scrimmage.

Considering the format, the teams they were playing against, and the fact that this was the first scrimmage...I personally thought Breathitt looked very good. They will become more polished as the year goes on. Obviously, Holcomb was not revealing much from the playbook, just as Bryan Station and Pburg weren't. However, the things that matter in these scrimmages were there for Breathitt: Aggressiveness, hitting, tackling, blocking, etc. Oline was firing off the ball well, and pads were popping.
Like I said before, this was a great experience for all 3 teams. Breathitt may not see a team throw it 98% of the time like Pburg did in the scrimmage all year, and definitely won't face a team as athletic as Bryan Station. So the benefit of getting experience against those types of teams this early in the year is invaluable.
Breathitt, in my opinion, will continue to improve (like the other 3 teams as well), and will be a force...

Breathitt always plays aggressive! !!! I thought they did really well considering they lost one of their best friends and teammates only two weeks ago! They willow Pullman together more and more as the year goes on plus we had a few players who got sick and a couple that's out with injury right now!!!!! Anyway I thought did damn good considering all they've been through!!!! Go Bobcats!!!!
