Trinity's Nathan Dieudonne named Mr. Basketball
#1
LOUISVILLE — Nathan Dieudonne of Trinity has been chosen Kentucky's Mr. Basketball, the first time in 50 years the award has gone to a player from a private school.

Boone County's Sydney Moss, daughter of NFL receiver Randy Moss, won the Miss Basketball title.

Dieudonne, who led Trinity to its first state title last month and was MVP of the Sweet Sixteen, received his Mr. Basketball award in a ceremony at the Seelbach Hilton on Saturday night.

"This is just like icing on the cake," Dieudonne said. "The state championship was our main goal. Obviously, this is a big award, but the team (championship) was the biggest thing."

Mike Silliman of St. Xavier is the only other private-school player to be named Mr. Basketball. He won the honor in 1962.

He may well be the best senior this year, and I don't want to disparage
the kid, but it doesn't speak particularly well about the level of talent in
Ky. h.s. basketball if he is the best we can produce. He's an undersized
small forward that will struggle to get playing time at a mid-major. And
we didn't produce a sinlge senior that has realistic prospects of being
a solid contributor to a major conference program.
