Kentucky All-State Basketball 2011-12 | Kayla Rankin, Perry County Central
#1
School: Perry County Central

Grade: Sophomore

Position: Forward

Height: 5-11

On the floor: Rankin is the only sophomore on the All-State team and is a three-year starter already for the Lady Commodores. She led the 14th Region champions at 21.1 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2.4 blocks, 2.1 steals and 2.1 assists per game. She already has 1,797 career points and 888 rebounds with two seasons to play.

Off the floor: Rankin is also a middle blocker for the Perry Central volleyball team that reached the 14th Region final last season.

Future: Rankin is considered one of the top prospects in the 2014 class and is hearing from many major colleges.

Quotable: “Kayla has really just burst on to the scene,” Perry Central coach Randy Napier said. “She was raw and a big kid who could play, but now she’s learned how to use that big strong body, and she has become just an absolute force inside. I don’t know anybody in the state that can take her one-on-one in the paint. She’s just so physical and fast for that size.”
