Then you got a heck of a Coach...He ran the double-wing at Mercer, but he gives it
different looks depending on talent..

Early rumors out of LCC, based on their talent level, they'll be running the Wildcat all season long.
You have to have some athletes to run Wildcat dont you? Must of brought some boys in with him from Mercer county.

The wildcat is a run based offense with a running back at QB. He didn't bring anyone from Mercer, it's not pro football, parents aren't going to pick up and move to the mountains to follow a coach.
I'm sick of people accusing others of cheating. I have news for you Rains is a better coach than what you had. He will get more out of what you had. When the winning begins and the program becomes attractive I guarantee there will be more people whining about cheating. Nobody in Kentucky ever just loses, they have to have gotten cheated. Nobody in Kentucky who wins ever does it with work, intelligence, and support, they just cheat.
Wish you guys the best! Rains is about discipline and he will have the clicking like a
new clock. He has away of getting kids to step up and reach for higher goals. Sounds
like he has some talent to work with which will make the season very exciting for the
players and fans.
I just hope that kids really take this opportunity and listen to this coach. I hope a lot of them are lifting.

The Wildcat is also the Single Wing, Wing T, Wishbone (princpals from each) in the shot gun (which, the Single Wing is from a closer shot gun look), but you can't call it the Single Wing, Wing T or Wishbone these days. Nope. Can't do it. It doesn't have the street cred that "The Wildcat" does. Single Wing, Wing T and Wishbone don't sound cool.
To add to that, I heard Gus Malzahn (former Auburn OC and current Head Coach of Arkansas State) speak after Auburn's National Championship year at a clinic. He told this group of about 500 coaches how all of the Auburn fans and your Joe Average fan watched Auburn that year and thought they were in some wild, new offense; and it really wasn't. As he put it, "It was the Wing T from the Shotgun, but heck, I wasnt going to tell our fans that. For some reason, "Spread" sounds so much better, even though the Spread could be a multitude of offenses."

So true.
anyone thinks that LCC didnt lose a good coach in Whitaker is crazy but good luck coach Raines keep ur friends close an enemies on the sidelines with ya.LCC is a great school with good kids an athletes just wish that politics an outside pressures didnt play such a big part.good luck LCC
Whitaker did not get the job done bottom line.
Anyone whose son played football at LCC for the past 2 years knows that Whitaker definitely did not get the job done. I hate that boys played football all through grade school and middle school and even stayed back a year so that their senior year they would be winners. I don't know exactly how Whitaker destroyed the team and the boys, but, he did. The boys had no respect for him and he turned them against him so that they didn't want to play for him. The only ones who stood up for him were his band of assitant coaches. I hope the future looks brighter for the boys next year and in the coming years and LCC football can regain it's glory. It's too late for the boys that graduated the last 2 years but it can be better from now on.
