Jeff Goodman is reporting that Austin Rivers will leave Duke and enter the NBA Draft
03-24-2012, 02:31 AM
I find it hilarious that he's not even rated in the top 10 best guards, lol. I think the kid is good, but I also think he's a ballhog and way overrated.

No matter how good he may be, this was a given. Rivers is no different than what UK gets ragged on. This kid only went to college because he had to, not because he wanted to.

can't rely on pops to get you in the draft. i see him going round 2
03-24-2012, 10:05 PM
You better believe if the Celtics draft him, he'll be starting because he's the coaches son
03-24-2012, 10:07 PM
Definitely won't be a first rounder.

Take all the dUKe hate out of this, but Rivers will be a much better NBA player than college. His game is more suited for the uptempo game and his athleticism is a lot better than people think. I think this kid makes a better pro than his father, and his father was pretty darn solid.

I agree 500% man...he'll be a much, much better NBA player. His game fits perfectly with the pro game.

It's true - I just called up the Plumlees and they said that they hate him

Rivers Sucks.

He will make a solid NBA player. I work with a guy that is a huge dUKe fan and he was very happy over this. He can't stand Rivers lol.

Anyone noticed now how the "experts" all say the one-and-done rule is bad and things need to change. It is funny because before Kyrie Irving left Duke after his one year and now Rivers plans to do the same, all of them was giving Calipari shit over the players he recruits. Hypocrisy at it's best.

^ Well, when you are replacing a whole team at a time, not just one player, that's probably a little different

Woooah now, Dusty
We all know that Coach K is really the biggest contributor to the one-and-done rule

That's not what I am saying at all. I hate the rule as it is. Calipari has said he doesn't like it either.
What I am saying is that all these guys on ESPN and the like, have had nothing but criticism of Calipari for what he has done within the rules, but now their tune has changed when it is happening at Duke.
It was just an observation.

How is their tune changing?
All I ever hear is criticism about the rule

I personally think making players go to school for one year is about the dumbest thing i've every hurd of. If your gonna make them go to school make it atleast two years if not let them go pro out of high school.

GO, screw him and screw Duke!!!

It would not surprise me if the Celtics made some kind of trade with Rondo and then drafted Austin Rivers to make him their starting PG.

^ I can't see that at all! One, what if Rivers is a bust? You can't do that to either Dad or Son! What if the Celtics struggle and the want to make a coaching change? No, not possible that Rivers is a Celtic, NO WAY possible! There is NO business reason to make this happen.

Just about expected this. I had always thought that he was get to the league soon kind of player. He had a good year, one that didn't drop his stock too much so he is taking advantage. Can't really fault him. But I do find it incredibly funny that Duke has had two straight one and done all-star point guards in the last two years!
