Collins High School linebacker Michael Brooks, one of the top senior defensive football players in the state of Kentucky this past season, has decided on a college.
Brooks, a 6-foot, 215-pound first-team Courier-Journal All-State selection, is headed to Lindsey Wilson College.
Brooks had 214 tackles, including 98 solos and 27 for losses, and had several games with 20-plus tackles including 27 (15 solos) in a loss to Class 6-A Eastern.
Brooks helped Collins, a second-year school, to a 22-5 record in his final two seasons. He had 95 tackles at Shelby County.
As a junior, Brooks had 136 total tackles, including 51 solos and 16 for losses. Heâs also collected five interceptions and four fumbles.
Brooks was joined in signing with Lindsey Wilson by Shelby County senior Taylor Lay. Collins seniors Jalen Spalding and Joseph Fawns also signed with Lindsey Wilson earlier in the month.

Yes along with a few other D-1 schools. I'm not really sure why he chose Lindsey Wilson but I'm sure he'll do great there and I wish him the best of luck. Lindsey Wilson also got two Collins players last year that also probably could have gone D-1 but they chose Lindsey Wilson instead. (Tavis Elzy and Branden Cresap)

Good luck to the boy! Seems that LWC has been getting a lot of standout talent from Kentucky since they started up the football program.

How many legitimate Division 1 football players are going to choose to play football at Lindsey Wilson??? I can tell you NONE...There are only a handful of kids from the state of Kentucky that can play Division 1 football and if they can, they are not going to Lindsey Wilson...

Agreed.

Tim McAdoo was legit D1 - recruited by Kentucky. He ended up not going to LW b/c of academics, but he had agreed to go.
Some others players have prescience to know they don't want to ride the D1 pine and want to play. I respect them for it.

Agree with this. The previous two posts musta got their feelings or pride hurt somewhere down the road. Their are kids at LW that did get D-1 offers. Who cares what reason they went NAIA. Do some research. Academically, it's the better choice in the long run and some want to play right out of the gate. It's not all about the fame.

No pride hurt here, just telling it like it is, there is NO kid in America that has a legitimate shot at playing Division 1 football willing to take a step down to play at the NAIA level, if there is, then they are not a competitor....PERIOD...This coming from a person that played at the Division 1AA level...

NAIA school U.Va. @ Wise just signed this kid:
Dominique Wallace, a 6'2" running back from Chancellor High School and The University of Virginia. Wallace was listed as the best fullback in the country by Rivals. He rushed for 4,957 yards in high school. Was first-team all-state running back his senior season. Wallace appeared in three games in 2009 for UVa and rushed for 49 yards, before suffering a season ending injury.
Sometimes - its just best to admit you are wrong and go on about your bidness rather than defending a specious argument.

U just made my case, he went to a Division 1 program at Virginia and then was hurt and transferred to Virginia Wise....I'm not saying going to an NAIA school is bad, but lets not say that these kids are Division 1 level and then end up at a NAIA school....
