One of the stars of the defense, Bruns made honorable mention last season and helped the Bluebirds to another Class 4-A state title.
The 6-foot, 190-pound Bruns had two interceptions and two fumble recoveries as a senior. He was also one of the leading tacklers for a defense that allowed just 191 points and only 1,300 yards passing in 15 games.
âHe reminds me of Mike Mitchell (a former Highlands safety in his third season with the Oakland Raiders),â coach Dale Mueller told The Cincinnati Enquirer. âI see him as a safety because of his nose for the ball and ability to hit people and make tackles.â
As a junior, Bruns was named first-team Associated Press All-State after intercepting five passes and returning three for touchdowns.
Bruns committed to Cincinnati. Heâll sign in February.
