Four Ballard players reached double figures as the host Bruins fended off Jeffersonville (Ind.) 80-71 Saturday night in boys’ high school basketball.
Lavone Holland led Ballard (11-5) with 19 points, and University of Louisville recruit Quentin Snider added 18.
The Bruins are third in The Courier-Journal’s Litkenhous Ratings.
“We didn’t hit our free throws in the first half,” said Ballard assistant Dave Seale, whose team led 41-33 at halftime despite shooting just 8 of 18 from the charity stripe. “We fixed that in the second half and held on for the win.”
Ballard, which shot an improved 15 of 19 from the free-throw line in the second frame, also got 15 points from Kelan Martin and 14 from Aaron Murray.
Bryce Roland and Trice Whaley scored 17 and 16 points, respectively, for the Red Devils (6-2), which had won six straight games.
“The great thing about Jeffersonville is they bring a tremendous crowd,” Seale said. “It was a great environment for high school basketball in Louisville.”
