Pikeville 77 Beechwood 60 (59th Pikeville Invitational Tournament)
#1
Final from TW Oliver.

Great, great job by this Pikeville team. Played very well in the 1st half and then when Ethan Rowe finally returned in the 3rd, it was lights out.

Will Branham led the Panthers with 28 points and 6 first half 3's. Rowe and Hamilton each had 13 I believe. Rowe's coming in about 8 minutes of playing time. Things just flow so much smoother on both ends when he is involved. Proud of the minutes from Anderson, Hall, and Hamilton tonight.

#4 from Beechwood had a very good game. Just forgot his name.

Pikeville will play Greenup County in the semi-finals Thursday at 8:15.

Beechwood will face Pike Central in the consolation bracket.

Let me just say this, I think I speak for all of Pikeville when I say:

IT FEELS GREAT TO BEAT BEECHWOOD!
I don't care what sport it is.

HAIL PIKEVILLE!

Beechwood is just not a good team

Actually, they have the makings of a good team. They have size inside, and a couple of decent guards. Their problems are 1) Don't try to work the ball into the post enough, and 2) they let stuff get to them mentally.

How is Rowe recovering?

Id like to agree, but this team just does not have Basketball talent and hes not had much for years. I know these kids, they work hard, but unfortunately the best basketball players are instead working out with the football and baseball teams at this time of year.

Imho, it sure is great to see Pikeville beat Beechwood in any sport. Glad to see this. But who knows? could be we'll meet up with them down the road in another sport where the ball takes those crazy bounces and come out on the W side of the margin. :devilflam
