Player to watch: Carlesha Rice, a 5-6 senior guard who averaged 16.8 points last season, can score from the outside and in the paint.
Other top players: G Jada Jackson (5-7, So.); G/F Mary Burton (5-6, So.); F Alexandria Peden (6-0, Fr.); G Destiny Lamb (5-6, Jr.).
Outlook: Waggener has gone from eight players at the end of last season to 21, including 14 freshmen. Peden likely will see the most playing time of the newcomers, but Ponder is excited about several others. Rice and Jackson, a transfer from Shawnee, should handle much of the scoring from the backcourt. âWeâve had an influx of young talent that doesnât mind climbing the ladder to success,â Ponder said.
