Ky. colleges' reported expenses on football 2009-10
#1
Just throwing this out there. Not directed at any school. Not meant to criticize or promote any school or anyone. Hope I did not omit any. Came from federal data supplied from the link. I find it interesting. I well add that the data shows UK reported $31 million in football revenue in the same year.

Reporting Year: 7/1/2009 - 6/30/2010*

Kentucky Football $13,905,724
Louisville Football $12,222,307
WKU Football $5,768,244
EKU Football $2,854,400
Murray St. Football $2,470,754
Campbellsville Football $1,140,798
Georgetown Football $1,009,856
Ky. State Football $865,660
Cumberlands Football $800,307
Wesleyan Football $765,264
Morehead Football $738,044
Union College Football $734,241
Pikeville Football $679,391
Ky Christian Football $618,480
Thomas More Football $312,847
Centre Football $225,237

*No football data for Lindsey Wilson's 1st year

Tica, does that include salaries as well?

I believe they are included under total football expenses.

I posted this originally in high schools so kids who might be thinking of playing at the next level would be able to view the level of financial commitment at schools where they might have an interest and also what competing schools might be spending.

I see, just copy the original post and post it there again. I will leave it in both. Name it something like: KY Colleges Football Expenses 2009-2010

I promise, I will leave it, just don't give it the same title as this one.

Kind of surprising to see NAIA schools outspending FCS Morehead State.

Morehead dropped down from the OVC and plays non-scholarship football now. A significant part of the of the cost of some of the programs listed includes student athlete grants in aid. For D1 it is about 85 scholarships.

by the way these self reporting are kind of bogus. For example Thomas More Football expenses of $312,847 was the same as what their income was. Something isn't right in the reporting
I don't think this is comparing apples to apples

Not very many athletic programs turn a profit.
