Where will he end up on the all-time leading scoring list? He's currently #12 right now and the link says by the end of this coming season there's a good chance he'll be #6.

Kobe has also scored the 4th most career playoff points. Where do you think he will finsih up on that list?

Is Kobe talking retirement? This is the second the second thread here about the end of Kobe's career.
No, I'm asking when Kobe does retire how high do you guys think will he be on those lists.
hmm idk... I'll agree and say #6.. But depending on the quality of his play, and how many years he plays... That will tell the tale.
I believe kobe can make it to 6 this year now i'm not sure how high he will finish by the end of his career
He might be able to get up to #3 when all is said and done...
but Karl and Kareem have some big numbers to surpass

THIS YEAR!?!?!?
Now that is a pretty stout statement.. IDK if I'd go that far.

IMO, he's not gonna pass Shaq.

Unless he is injured most of the year, he's going to pass Moses Malone.
This is what it says in the link.
Here's the reason for the math: if Bryant hangs around his average of 27 points from the last three seasons and plays in all 82 games, he'll score 2,214 points, pushing his career total up to 28,004, nearly 600 more than current sixth-place holder Moses Malone (27,409). If we're being (much) more conservative, Bryant could miss 10 games and average only 25 points per game, and he'd still total 1,800 points for the season and 27,590 for his career, clearing Moses by 181 points.
Ballers Wrote:IMO, he's not gonna pass Shaq.

In a year or two he'll pass Shaq up. After Shaq I wouldn't guarantee anything though. Like Zaga said he could move up to #3, maybe higher, but he will have to keep up this production for several more years.
well for him to pass up kareem, he would have to average 27 points over 82 games per season for almost 6 more years...

It's all up to how long he plays and if he can get in at least 70 games a year.
Remember, Kobe has played through injuries before, but he has also sat on the sidelines quite a few times.
I don't see him getting #1 or anything, but we just have to wait and see.
His jumper will be deadly for a few more years.
Age is creeping up on Kobe..
Ballers Wrote:Age is creeping up on Kobe..

It definitely is....but he's adjusting just like MJ did.
He's no longer the incredible slasher and dunker he once was.
He know makes his living with his jumpers, fadeaway, and gets a lot of pts at the FT line.

Agreed
A question I'd like to ask..
Sorry if it offends Kobe fans but..
Wonder how many points Lebron will have once he retires..
And, where will he be at on that list? I'd make a thread but I'm too lazy.
And also, would you think he;d be a contender for rebounds/assist at all?
I saw somewhere that Lebron is on pace to break the scoring record by the time he's 36. He won't though. He won't keep up that production until then and he's yet to have injurys plague his career. I wouldn't be surprised if Lebron did break it though.

I believe he will.. Within the next few years, I look for him to start scoring like Kobe when Kobe was in his main prime..

i'm not sure about tht it depends on how Miami will score really...Wade and Lebron will be fighting for the ball

I think he has the best shot at getting the points total as anyone does.
Him coming straight out of high school like Kobe, they have a few more years to rack up points. It's all up to how much his points go down with Wade and Bosh on the team. I don't think his production will dampen that much though.
As for rebounds and assists.
He doesn't have a shot....
Wilt averaged over 22 rebounds a game for his career.
And no one will ever touch Stocktons assist record.
IMO Lebrons will average less points but more assists in Miami. He'll go from averaging 30ppg to around 23-25.

Well I know he's not going to challenge Wilt's and Stockton's records..
I was just saying that do you think he might break into the top 1o-15 in one
of those categories before he retires. He puts up good enough numbers to go into both IMO.

#15 in Rebounds belongs to Charles Barkley and I don't see Lebron topping that.
Assists is something that he could possibly crack the top 15 in IF he brings his numbers up.
He averages 7 a game for his career and that isn't really top 15 material...
but I see his assists going up in Miami.
Time will tell, time will tell....lol
I think Kobe will be top 3 in the all-time scoring category.
But just to toss this out there, anyone besides me see Kobe becoming the head coach for the Lakers a few years after he retires?

No he wont, and no he wont.
Ballers Wrote:No he wont, and no he wont.

If he wants it he wouldn't have to beg for the job lol
But I've never even heard of Kobe mention wanting to coach
I don't see it happening.

Yeah if he wants too.. But let's be real.. Kobe isn't a coach, he's a ball player.
K Mac I'm sorry but thats probably the most rediculous thing I've ever heard.

And if he was to coach.. it would be many many many years down the road.. Like 20 years. when he starts getting grey hair and starts taking Viagra.

The Viagra was a little over the top, ballers lol

I think that Kobe will be more than content with retiring and doing commercials.
Maybe getting a Hanes deal lol

I was thinking fruit of the loom, but ok if you say so.
Kobe knows the game of basketball better then anyone and has had many years under the best coach ever. I think he would make an excellent coach. And he loves the sport too much to just retire and have nothing else to do with it and make commercials.
