Really? This is what its come to? Unbelievable. Why is it so dificult for us to abide by the rules, discuss the game of football, talk A LITTLE trash to eachother all in good fun. It always gets taken way out of hand.
Some people get torn up and then have to post peoples names and such. I won't mention who it was but there is someone that gets torn up and starts calling names like a kid and then goes too far.
Eh it is what it is. Lets not get back into it. I still say it loud and proud though...Williamsburg will flop. They r large and quick as a team, but i can attest that Raceland's line is much quicker/faster and have much better technique and our skill guys r better. Pikeville's line is a year older and stronger as is Hazards. Thats 3 VERY capable teams that all have hime field advantage if they were to play Wburg in the finals. All of which are hard to win at in late november. Its going to be an interesting year in the east next year.
Careful, a certain guy with an army will get mad and start calling you names.
Is this what they are looking for?
Williamsburg has a football team. They are called the Yellowjackets, even though their colors are Orange and Black. Their football team is big and strong. Their football team is fast. Their football team is looking for a quarterback. Their football team got Corbin Transfers and a few kids from the state of Ohio. Which only added to their size and strength. This team has lots of tallent. So much tallent that they coukd compete to win it all....buuuuut they wont.
How is the Massey kid doing? I know he was in Harlan County this week running around with some old friends but don't think he is back to stay, just visiting. Although Fred, you are welcome to come back with open arms!!!
Just my opinion but scotty and myson brings nothing to this forum or this site. That is all...
And ur entitled to that opinion, Blue. There's nothing wrong with disagreeing with someone. There's nothing wrong with stating so. I was just goofing around with my statement. Sorry if it offended. I think Wburg should be a tough out for snyone in the east this year. The playoffs will be interesting. Seems that everyone has lost crucial pieces, many have been filled by new faces, some with outside faces, but thats become a part of the hs football life. The only thing thats consistant is change. But i digress, the playoffs will be interesting. Raceland wont be a ground and pound team for awhile. More balance should make them more competitive with Wburg and Pikeville's speed. But should hsve more quickness and technique on the line which allows them to still compete with the size differential. Hazard will be better and so will Pikeville. Massey gives Williamsburg more balance. Imo, all of the prime cotenders from the east, really look pretty close, atleast on paper. Alot can change between now and december though.
Williamsburg will be going back to the state in 1A...And if Massey.plays everybody is playing for 2nd place in the east.take my word. :please: And if Massey does not play everybody is still playing for 2nd place.....I think. Confusederiously:
Does anyone have a clue who is in the running to be the qb.
That was goina be my question. I think it will boil down to who is the best option to take away from their regular position. Do u take away Massey from the power running game or do u take Griffith out of the passing game? Both guys are dual threats at QB but are different types of threats. Imo, they are deeper at WR and they need that power back to slow the game down a bit. I think Griffith will end up under center. Did the Shelton kid at WR graduate?

Williamsburg is the favorite. But to win 2 away games in November will be a tall task.
Shelton, like just about everyone else who was a key player last year, will be a senior.
If Fred plays quarterback, I don't know if you really have a passing game, at least one beyond screens and short passes. He rarely threw the ball deep in any of the JV games I saw when he played quarterback, which was only because the other quarterback was injured. He's a great athlete, but he's never been asked to throw the ball very much.
I see. If thats the case and Skyler has more experience in a pass oriented offense and Shelton, Rose, and Patrick there, i think he will end up being under center. Outside of having a bigger back like Massey, Williamsburg skill guys look to be about like Raceland's. raceland has a solidified QB though, two if you count Messer. With our line becomig more and more sound, many think Raceland may be better this year, than last. Even though the line is smaller, they are faster and seem to hit a little bit harder. From what Ihear, Hazard looks the same and so does Pikeville. They will have to replace Hall by committee but as it stands right now, Williamsburg has a size advantage and experience on defense, but speed has shown to be more important. This is going to be an extremely fun playoff year. Especially when you toss Paintsville into the mix. Goina be interesting to see how everything unfolds. I just hope whoever makes it to Bowling Green isnt too banged up from the regional finals and semis. The west has alot more depth than we do over here.
While I believe its more likely to happen at the hands of Beechwood, I would love to see Mayfield get knocked off this year. Lot of respect for that program, but I would love to see someone from the east bring a title back our way.
Cory Shelton will be a senior this year. I'm not the coach but I think I would give the back-up QB Patterson a hard look at QB. Williamsburg has a nice problem...I just don't see Massey playing QB he is a man child for a running back.....Skyler I think will be the QB and will get the job done. I would love to see skyler brother Andrew come out and play.....Go Williamsburg from 64SUR. :Cheerlead
Fix the line and the qb will automatically become better.
With that schedule, you definitely can experiment every game but 1 until the 3rd round of the playoffs. That will be somewhat of a benefit of that schedule.

I thought one of the Wbrg guys said he was coming out to play this year. If im not mistake they even gave his stats at somewhere around 6'2"/220? If thats the case and he's atheletic, sounds like an awfully good TE if u ask me.

Andrew is 6'5"/ 225 wish he would play.Massey is 6'2"/220 RB an Will play. :Cheerlead....Just sayin
Scotty, you can rest assured knowing that us, Beechwood and Frankfort are going to do our best to make sure the gold trophy comes back home to the west again this year.
That doesnt make me rest any better! I think the east will be much more competitive this year. It all boils down to match-ups in the end. You can never really compare scores. Some squads are better at one aspect defensively, while the other may be stronger in another area. Thats why balance on both sides of the all are important. I think defensive balance against the run and the pass (and there all multi-facets to each phase) are often over look. Being able to stop one or the other isnt enough. Beig able to run well isnt enough, being a spread passing team isnt enough. That and special teams are so important. Look at the last 10 state champions stats. You will find 20 tds passers along side 15+ td rushers. You also find teams who have the ability to put points on the bored, when faced with a 4th and 4 inside the 20, rather than taking the t.o. On downs. You may find a team that only ranks 5th or 6th in rushing defense and 3rd or 4th in passing...but it makes for a team that will only give up 225 yds and a td or 2 a game. But they can defend the big plays from happening. Which is HUGE, when u look at how many single A squads rely on 70 yards and a cloud of dust, rather than 4 and 5 yards at a time. Thats how Raceland beat Pikeville. Balance and a defense that bent but didnt break.
Keep a team that relys on jet sweeps, screens and the quick passes to their atheletes in space between the 30's and they eventually run out of room to make things happen.

You should be more interested in how mayfield replaces Guhy, Mills, and Jackson. By mysonis55 logic mayfield has to replace 75% of their offense. Therefore the top teams in 1A return more experience and talent... If this doesn't make sense to you, then you should now understand what everyone goes through when you post.
I think things will be a little more balanced this year across the state. I think several teams in the east have been running the new style offense long enough now that they should start figuring it out. I think it takes several years to figure that stuff out as an offense and then a few more as a defense.

He want understand until someone can served him some humble pie.....I think he does a pretty good job describing teams in 1A. With his 2A Mayfield team. Without him we would know nothing about some of the western teams or some of our eastern teams.......Keep the good work up.
Good luck this season Williamsburg , I hope you have a great season.
I WONDER WHO WILL COME IN SECOND IN THE EAST, could be Pineville with that hot QB.
Believe me, I understand what we need to fix and unlike some I am not offended to have someone remind me of that. I have already posted that on the Mayfield thread as a matter of fact. I just find it crazy that I have done these analysis on several top teams including Mayfield. This group is the only one where someone has turned it into trash talk instead of an analysis.
