Jeni Houser, who led Assumption High School to the state championship Saturday, has been named Kentucky’s 2010 Miss Volleyball by the Kentucky Volleyball Coaches Association.
Houser, a 6-foot-3 middle blocker, had a match-high 17 kills as Assumption beat Mercy 25-18, 25-23 in the state final at Bellarmine University’s Knights Hall.
Houser, who has committed to play at Notre Dame, was one of four Assumption players to receive first-team All-State honors. The others were Claire Gerwig, Jackie Napper and Courtney Robison.
Assumption finished the season with a 37-4 record and is ranked No. 8 in the nation by PrepVolleyball.com.
The 13-member first team included five other players from Louisville – Mercy’s Amanda Crask, Jewell Dobson and Natalie Keck; Holy Cross’ Lynsey Hazelwood; and Sacred Heart’s Monica McGreal.
