WVU's Hogan arrested

WVU's Hogan arrested; status uncertain
MORGANTOWN - It seems quite likely that West Virginia will go into Saturday's game with Maryland short-handed at cornerback.
That's because Brandon Hogan is in trouble again.

The Mountaineer senior was arrested late Saturday night in Morgantown and charged with DUI. He was driving the wrong way on Spruce Street just after 3 a.m. Sunday.

WVU coach Bill Stewart would not comment on the arrest, other than to issue a statement saying that he did not yet have all the facts.
"I have been made aware of the situation and am gathering the facts at this time,'' Stewart said through the school's sports information office. "I will take appropriate action when all the facts are in.''

Given that this is not Hogan's first brush with the law, it would seem that Stewart has little choice but to suspend the first-team All-Big East cornerback.

In April, Hogan was cited in Morgantown for disorderly conduct and public urination. That was during spring practice, when Stewart already had the senior running steps for what he considered less than full effort during winter conditioning.

Hogan would also miss spring practice time when Stewart sent him to study hall to improve his grades.

Hogan, 22, is a third-year starter at cornerback for the Mountaineers, a standout on special teams (on the kickoff coverage team and as the primary punt returner) and is considered perhaps the team's best open-field tackler.

If he is suspended or otherwise misses any playing time at all. he would likely be replaced in the lineup by redshirt freshman Brodrick Jenkins or sophomore Pat Miller.

Idiot!!! What is it with these athletes that have it made and do not have enough discipline to stay out of trouble?

Gomer said at his presser today that Hogan has been suspended indefinitely. Took no questions on either that or the Marshall game.

What a silly mistake . Possibly screw up your chances for success for nothing .

How many times are we going to hear about these types of situations. I think that WVU will be fine but man this is stupid.
