Pikeville will be a very good team come the 2006 baseball season. They will have solid pitching as they will have Chase Huffman the #1 pitcher in the region as well as Carter and Anderson. Now they did lose some very good talent in the infield and outfield but return one of the best center fielders in the region in Weston Robinson and make no mistake about it that they will have a very solid defense in the infield by the time season starts. I look for Pikeville to be one of the top teams if not the top team in the region all year.

Coach Lawson is the top coach in the 15th region IMO. He stepped into a great situation at Pikeville no doubt but he has been a great coach for the Panthers. In 98 Johnson Central was the top team in the region all season but Coach Lawson's Panthers beat the Eagles in a championship classic. In 99 Coach Lawson had a senior dominated team. They lost to Pike Central in the district championsip but beat the Hawks in the regional championship. That was probably Coach Lawson's best team. The 02 team was very good and beat Paintsville in a very good championship game. The 04 and 05 teams were very good also. The 04 team should have won the regional title IMO and as we all know Coach Lawson won his 4th regional title last season. Coach Lawson is going to win a lot of regional titles for many years to come. He does have a great feeder program but so does some other schools in the 15th region, but I think it is pretty clear who is the top program in the 15th region since Coach Lawson took over in 1998.
