I have not heard of the wku camp but, I have heard of the uk camp in June or July I can't remember. But who will be attending it?

Western Ky U. is having a middle school 7on7 on Saturday July 11, then a middle school only camp on 12-14. We took 18 of our kids, mostly all going into 7th grade, down last year during their HS camp. The kids loved it and the coaching staff learned a great deal. It is being called a team camp but it is also open to individual players as well. There will be 3 sessions per day the morning and afternoon will be with the WKU staff and the evening you can take your team and work with them or they can work with college staff. The WKU coaches were great last year you could tell they actually cared about the kids learning and not just tring to get thru the week like some camps. While we only had 5 8th graders last year we could see a big change in the team, as far as knowledge of the positions they play and as a team building time. The great thing about this year is they are having one for MS only so the kids will be with kids their own age. If you want more information just go to there web site.

Please forgive me, but who is Coach Howard?

This information has also been posted several times on the KY Middle School Football Coach listserv.

If you are a coach, or if your coach is interested, please email me privately and we can add you to the listserv. It is free and through the UK listerv system.

There are currently over 160 middle school football coaches from across the state on it.

I have spoken with Coach Francis at Raceland. They are coming to UK also.

Going to be some excellent competition at these!

I know where I'm coaching, we're running 4 and sometimes 5 wide. We will run the Wing-T and then go into the power I, we like to mix it up with different formations and sets...

I coach the defense and we will run cover 2, cover 3 and then go man-man... I like to throw in some corner blitzes along with some safety blitzes as well. I think that the more you throw out there for the kids to learn, the better they will adapt to high school...

How much of a carry over do you have from the different sets? I can see carry over from power I to wing t to a degree if you don not run a true wing t. Going from power I to 5 wide is a different thing. You can see teams that run a ton of different mini offenses yet are not a master of any.

Games played today, Betsy Layne winner over Allen, then Adams and then win over Allen Central .....real good showing bobcats...Jarrell looked real good at QB.
#46
My first post. Hot Dog. I watched the 7 on 7 and jarrell did looks the best of the four throwing, but he did not look as good as he has in the past. He was throwing off his back leg and not getting full arm rotation. He should be in solid form by August. Holiday from Adams was not bad for his first time ever throwing in competition. Needs to work on timing. he held the ball way too many times. No line can protect you forever. The biggest surprise was the kid throwing for Allen. Good arm, took what the denfense gave him, and only made errors when trying to throw too long. Wish South Foyd had been there. A great day for Floyd County football
