BELFRY

OFFENSE

1. Running Game- B The numbers are good, they are consistently gaining yards, they have shown big play ability, but the fumbles are attrocious. Last year this would be an A+

2. Passing Game- D We are not a passing team and it shows...

3. Line play- B+ Still not as domiannt as they should be and some mental errors,,but clearly one of the better units in all of 2A.

4. Backfield- B- Read runnign game comments, Phillips still is struggling as a QB, but this unit improves every week

5. Receivers/Ends- C They are doing what they can, TE's have been impressive as blockerd.

6. Mental Preparedness-C This gets better every week,,, but man those fumbles are painful.

7. Coaching-A Each week they get better and better and by season's end they will look darn good.

OVERALL- B-

DEFENSE
1. Run Defense- B So far they have been excellent with moments of let down that look horrible.

2. Pass Defense- B- Never a strong point but looks better than most years. Enough speed to actually pressure the QB some.

3. D-line- B Strongest part of defense, undersized but very quick and aggressive. Still ahve tackling issues.

4. LB's- C- Defiately the weak link...but improving

5. Secondary- C+ Young group that still are imprving, Maynard and Chapman have looked good.

6.Mental preparedness- B- Too many mental letdowns, but that is expected right now. They were pretty solid against a good Lawrence County team.

7.Coaching- B Not improving as quick as I hoped, blown assignments reflect back poorly, but noentheless solid coaching.

OVERALL- B

SPECIAL TEAMS
1. Returns- A Maynard has became a superstar as a kick returner and a viable threat.

2. Coverage- B- So far it's all rightbut Belfry always worries me againsta team who can form a good middle wedge and have speed to break through.

3. Kicking- C Average. Nothing special.

OVERALL- B, but improving

EFFORT- A

OVERALL GRADE- B-

Prestonsburg

OFFENSE
1. Running Game - B, seems to be the only thing P-burg has going for them this year, still yet, it has room for improvement.
2. Passing Game - C, when Shaffer has the time he can throw the ball well, but never has the time, he is always scrambling.
3. Line play - C-, 4 starters from last year and are still struggling.. Lack of leadership and size.
4. Backfield - A, Peters has shown signs of a true runner with good speed.. Hamilton speaks for himself.
5. Receivers - C, No recievers to go to unless Peters steps out at slot or WR. Slone can play, but the passing game isn't looking good right now.
6. Mental Preparedness - D, Once again the Leadership role is missing
7. Coaching - B, Coach D is a good coach and knows how to make his players stronger and meaner, but has trouble sometimes with play calling.
OVERALL- C

DEFENSE
1. Run Defense - B+, teams struggle running up the middle, but need work on outside containment.
2. Pass Defense - C, struggle when the QB scrambles out of the pocket to throw the ball.
3. D-line - B, they get good penetration, but have trouble containing outside.
4. LB's - B+, have the size and strength but lack speed.
5. Secondary - B, good hands and feet, but a little undersized and could be faster. Need to come up on the run and make the tackle.
6.Mental preparedness - D, as everyone says the leadership role hasn't been filled, once this happens P-burg will become a different team.
7.Coaching - B, Coach James does a fine job.
OVERALL- C

SPECIAL TEAMS
1. Returns - B, have the weapons, but need to work on blocking and fielding the ball.
2. Coverage - A, Overall they have been pretty good.
3. Kicking - A, Moore has improved tremendously, he can boot them out of the endzone and I'm not aware of a missed PAT.
OVERALL- A-

EFFORT- D, I don't see the fire in this team like I have in the past, nor the big hits.

OVERALL GRADE - C
#4
Ashland

OFFENSE

1. Running Game B plus ashland has been able to run it up and down the gut rather then getting into the running game in the middle of the season.
2. Passing Game A with Ians arm and connected most of his passes to Drew and good pocket present protection form the line.
3. Line play B plus less blitzing and whenever their was a backer in the back field it was normally on the toss plays.
4. Backfield A looked like they could run it all night long.
5. Receivers B with some passes being connected while others where droped.
6. Mental Preparedness A plus
7. Coaching A plus
