Bethlehem 56 Pikeville 49 (Mingua Beef Jerky KHSAA Girls' Sweet 16®)
#1
Final. A very good game congrats to the Banshees! They will now get the winner of the Sacred Heart and GRC game this evening. They will play that winner tomorrow night at 6:00pm in the state quarterfinals.

Bethlehem was lead in scoring by Leah Macy with 31. She was the only player in double figures for Bethlehem. Pikeville was lead by Southern Mississippi commit Trinity Rowe with 17 points. The Lady Panthers finish their season at 27-6 and Bethlehem improve to 27-8 heading into Friday. The difference was from the foul line in this one where Pikeville was 5-12 and Bethlehem was 15-18.

For Pikeville to not have won a game at Rupp having that talent has to be disappointing for Orem.

I know they have dominated the 15th most of the time and thats to be commended but you have to think Orem has under achieved with this much talent. Didnt win the region last year, no real state tournament success and never got an All A crown. They have been quite literally record breaking in the 15th and should be commended for that but I cant help but think she has under performed overall when you consider the amount of talent

No coach here, but wouldn’t a zone made a difference???

But agreed, Orem has under achieved. Having that much talent ( 2 signed D-1 players), but never making a run at state. Or is this to say the 15th region is a weaker region in KY? Which leads to the next question… Does Pikeville want more? Or does Orem walk away? She losses 4 starters that will be tough to replace.

What would Deskins, Kidd, Mikey Hall, or Feltner done with that roster she’s had at Pikeville?

Pikeville is a 10 point better team than Bethlehem but Bethlehem had the best player. Pikeville ran man all game and left her go left and just did that little running bank shot for 85% of her points. Panthers went ice cold from the field in the second half and couldn’t buy a 3 after being pretty hot from the field in the first half. Trinity really never got anything going after the first quarter and she’s the straw that stirs the drink for Pikeville.
If you need any assistance or want to report a problem feel free to PM me and we will get it taken care of!  Thank you for choosing to be apart of the BGR community!

But wouldn’t a good coach adjust and notice no one on Pikeville could guard her 1 on 1 and go to a zone or immediately double team her when she touched the ball? She’s ranked 8th best player in the country. Orem had to know that going in

I’m sure we all can sit back and say this coach would’ve done this or that coach could’ve done that. But at the end of the day, the best team out of the 15th region made the sweet 16.
When it’s down to 16 teams I see it as scouting, game-plan and adjustment’s wins those games. Because all 16 teams have college talent on their teams.

When the team chemistry is terrible you never really win meaningful games. Last I heard none of the players for Pikeville, including the best one on the team, enjoyed playing for the coach they have.

Big Fish in a little pond in the 15th. They’d beat everyone in the 14th by 25 easy. Pikeville had a good year. None of those other coaches could got all that talent to come and play for them Orem is the only one that has been able to get them.

Not sure it’s as much Orem as it is the culture of Pikeville itself. The school attracts the talent in my opinion. Facilities and opportunities are second to none.

I wouldn't exactly call losing the All-A championship by 1 point a busted season.
#13
Exactly what all do they have to offer for girls basketball? Just curious. Really have no clue.

The self proclaimed greatest show on heals goes down in the first round yet again.

Their facilities, weight rooms and funds are better than most colleges in the state.

None would have done any better. One or 2 would probably been worse. The green eyed monster reared its ugly head during/after region. One stars family chirping on Facebook because not getting recognition/awards the other one did.

Do they have good athletic trainers and weightlifting coaches for the girls?
#18
When you get all the talent in a region and can't win at Rupp that is underachieving.

WOW! Girls hold grudges whether they are on the same team or not. If this is how the family felt you can bet it rubbed off. It is like a cancer that slowly grows, it goes unnoticed until it is too late.

You got that 100 percent right IAM22. Got a lot of cancers on most teams in this area. Why they can’t win the big games. And Rowe has always been the best player at Pikeville.

As far as got the best talent in the Region. Well Sacred Heart gets them from all over the Country. Quite a bit bigger talent pool to choose from.
