This is a textbook example of why everyone shouldn’t make the playoffs. Raceland could dress no one but JV players and still win this game by a large margin. And before anyone says anything about “giving the kids one more game” I’ll say this and it’s going to sound harsh. I really don’t care about giving an 0-10 team an extra game at the expense of taking away varsity reps from a team that actually won games and deserves to be there. That being said, this game will be played regardless and this will be a lot like the Fairview game and Raceland will have to creative find ways to keep the score below 60 points.

Perfect example why the KHSAA needs to go back to just two teams from each district making the playoffs.

No disrespect to Berea, but NO winless team should make the playoffs regardless of the circumstances, not to mention an 0-10 team is not bringing a crowd to an away game 2 1/2 hours away, so very little gate money. Berea's players have absolutely nothing to gain by playing this game.

I disagree with only taking 2 teams. I believe the best fix to help with the playoffs and the RPI is to have only 5 classes. This will strengthen class A and make the RPI more meaningful. The reason the RPI works in Ohio is because there are far better competition

……RPI…….MONEY……MONEY……For the school…….should answer a lot of question about RPI

Is there a record for fastest time someone put a running clock on an opponent? Because that might get broken.

I honestly believe both Raceland and Pikevilles first round games could be played by their Freshman teams and they would still win. Raceland will struggle not to score 70.

Raceland 67
Berea 0

Ohio has watered theirs down too by adding a 7th division and allowing more teams in. They have 300 more schools than we do.

That wasn’t a bad call on their part.  That would have been a long trip for a game that would be over after a quarter that could have risked kids getting hurt.

The state has to do something. This is getting ridiculous

I agree.  This is why I don’t think everyone should make the playoffs.  As much as people advocate for giving kids one more game in the end it ends up hurting the good teams because now our kids lost a game because a school was unable to field a competitive team.
#19
What a shame. No blame on Berea. I’d have done the same thing. Maybe if this happens enough it will force the KHSAA to do something

How about combine 2 districts and take to 4 out of said districts for playoffs. Eliminates RPI and scheduling problems

Let the teams that didn’t get in play the other teams that didn’t get in for one last hurrah

We will see how the KHSAA handles this. Because of this cancellation Berea is supposed to be ineligible for district play next year. Bet they let it slide

KHSAA and Corporate America has the same mentality….go figure! It’s really hard for people to make decisions without listening to so many opinions along with I’m always right and they are always wrong. In some cases the leader is the biggest problem of them all

The Richmond Register reported that Berea only had 12 players eligible to play this Friday.

Berea needs to drop football! Plain and simple…once every 10 years they have a decent team…but most years it’s a cluster. The sad part is they have a couple good players that could play at Madison Central or Madison Southern and help! The Richmond Register said they only had 12 eligible players.

If that is the case forfeiting was  good move.  At the end of the day the safety of the kids comes first and it this agitation it wouldn’t have been safe to play.

Berea just forfeit. Do to depleted roster

Agreed. If you can't field a team or have to worry about their safety when you play it is time to focus on other extracurriculars. I feel like I've said this a lot lately, but I feel horrible for the kids.
