You didn't want to beat up a Russian when listening to Eye of the Tiger.  That was Rocky IV.  1982 was Rocky IIi and Clubber Lang.
I wanted to beat up a Russian in 1982 when the song came out, and wanted to beat up a Russian in 1984 when Rocky 4 came out.
