I know the Pirates have had a rough early part of the season, but they are always a tough out and I always hate having to play them at Pond Creek. JC 42 Belfry 32.

Johnson Central in this one but hope the Pirates shock me and just hope both stay healthy

Belfry always improves as much during the regular season as any team in the state. In recent years, the JC-Belfry game has been the last regular-season game of the year for both teams. Coach Matney was the only Johnson Central coach with a career win against Belfry and even he lost a few games before winning his first one in the series against the Pirates. There have also been some upsets in this series and some games that were much closer than expected.

This game will be a good indicator of how JC will fare in the playoffs. If Isaac Dixon has a big game and the game is close or Belfry wins, then I don't expect JC will have a very good shot at a state title. Containing Dixon is the key because JC's best teams have always been able to contain opponents' primary offensive weapons when opponents have relied too heavily on one player. If Dixon runs wild against JC, then it will not bode well for JC's playoff hopes, IMO.

Belfry is on a 3 game winning streak and just ran through their District with ease after some thought (including me) that this would be the year someone else took the District Title. But I just can't see any scenario where the Pirates beat the Eagles in this one with all the emotions this game will have. I just hope they keep it close and both teams come out injury free. JC is a favorite in 4A in my opinion and weak as 3A is, Belfry could possibly be a favorite in their class as well. Good luck to both teams Friday night and I hope they both bring home another State Championship.

Love this game, hope both teams have an injury free night, Eagles win
#11
Belfry is a better team than their record shows, that being said I Central is not a good match up for this team. I don't see a 1 dimensional team being able to beat JC. Dixon still makes some plays to keep it respectable
Eagles- 42
Pirates-21

JC will blast Belfry... all respect to Belfry, but they are not a good team.. in the grand scheme outside of 3a this year... JC to me is the favorite to come out of the east. IMO. Corbin being the second.
#13
JC 35
Belfry 28

35-21 before Belfry scores the last TD and JC runs clock out.

Could care less who wins this game, both communities lost a beloved son and mentor in Coach Matney. There will be a lot of emotions that go way beyond the game played Friday night. These two Schools have bonded over the years and earned each others respect. Both fan bases pull for the other equally. This game is nothing more than a good barometer to see how both teams are looking headed into the playoffs. Just hope both teams can stay healthy and make deep runs to state.

Going with Central 42-14.

Defense, running game, size, power… and motivation add up to a Golden Eagles win.

I think JC pulls out the win, but it’ll be a good game. I don’t think either of these teams are as good as they have been in recent years.

Eagles win, 28-14.

Belfry wins 30-28

Central will have to play with at least a touchdown hole to overcome, but Central should win.
Central 35

Johnson central is too physical and big for Belfry.

Johnson central-48

Does anybody know if Belfry is planning some type of memorial for Matney at the game?

All I have been told so far is a moment of silence and a special helmet sticker.

Dixon has not been the QB for a month and a half at least.

I haven't watched them to know who the QB is.

If Dre Young was available I could make a case for Belfry winning or at least keeping it fairly close. The other BHS fullbacks are good, but not at his level. This series has been good, but weird in the sense that both schools, Johnson Central having 2, have 3 game winning streaks. JC is currently one won now after Belfry won in 15-17. Heart says BHS 21-20. Head JC 31-14.
