Eagles looked pretty good

Offensively we flat out dominated them. Our defense is coming along.
Good openers for the Golden Eagles.

JC getting it done in the fast lane. Congratulations.

Great start Eagles

Congratulations to Johnson Central

Good win and a good chance to get some of the younger kids a few snaps early in the season. Lex Cath should provide a little stiffer competition next week.

This game was an impressive season opener for Johnson Central. The ground game was very balanced, with two running backs rushing for more than 100 yards, and the team gaining an average of 8.3 yards/attempt with no turnovers. Rice completed 2 of 4 passes for 88 yards. Sophomore Zach McCort rushed for 104 yards on 11 attempts and looked like a veteran running back.

Henry Clay had great team speed and Johnson Central made the mistake of allowing a couple of long returns by not kicking away from that speed - or Coach Matney just wanted to gauge how well the defense would respond. JC's defense is clearly not where it was at the end of last season but their offense looked more polished than it at this point last season.

The game against Lexington Catholic will provide a good early-season measuring stick for this team but they are off to a great start.

Congrats Eagles! JC is the team to beat in 4A again this season, in my opinion.
