Shelby Valley 71 Pikeville 49
#1
A complete performance by Shelby Valley ends Pikeville’s season. Offensively that was the best SV has looked all year. SV was able to beat them off the dribble all game and were rotating the ball quickly for easy 3 point shots. Pikeville couldn’t handle the defensive pressure either and had a lot of turnovers.

Valley came out firing on all cylinders last night. 9 first half three pointers and 13+ for the whole game. Tough task for the Panthers trying to replace 30 ppg and 2 of your 3 players makers in Samons and Lockhart. Not to mention arguably the best player in the Region in Samons. Pikeville had to play the perfect game to win and played well for the first half. Hall look like he re-injured his repaired ACL knee at the end of the first half and was limping the rest of the game. Two years of bad luck with injuries for the Panthers. Let’s hope they can come back next year with an injury free season.

If Valley is shooting the ball like they did tonight, they will be a tough out in the Region tournament. Very well coached and they played hard every play.

I bet Panther Nation would like to have Hicks back in charge of Wildcats. Totally different team with Rowe leading this team!!!

^That may or may not have made sense if Pikeville hadn't have beaten SV in the All-A championship game and then by 16 at SV before they were decimated by injuries.

Obviously if Pikeville has Sammons and Lockhart they probably don’t lose by 22. Injuries have really killed Pikeville the last few years down the stretch.

But at the same time Shelby Valley looks night and day different from where they were even a month ago. Their defense has a picked up it’s intensity. On offense their ball movement is a lot crisper and that is leading to a lot of open shots. Rowe is a good coach and deserves a lot of credit. They were really weak offensively early on and he has helped mold them into a solid team.
