I would rather play a game in Baghdad than War Memorial. Lots of unhappy outcomes for visitors. Scorekeepers should just put down 14 for Mayfield before the start of play. That's what the disadvantage is in terms of atmosphere and tradition. The good thing is Murray will not have a long unhappy ride home, just a short one.

As always, murray will make this ugly, trash talking, dirty play, I just hope our kids keep their composure. I look for them to try and control the clock. I’ll say a 3 touchdown win

Last Murray game cost the MLB some sit out time for 2 weeks. Cardinals MUST keep composer and just play the game let score do talking.

I wouldn’t play him in this one. Because, he obviously can’t handle the antics.

Mayfield wins this one by 21

We can’t afford to sleep on this one. They pulled CC right into a trap.
#15
Murray always seem to pick up their game in the playoffs. I think they'll have a hard time stopping Mayfield's offense, but, I do expect them to play a good game and keep things closer than most think, but, in the end Cardinals 42 Tigers 28

Didn’t u predict a running clock?

Don’t try to find logic in my running clock picks. I think we should do just that. However, if we don’t have our minds right, it could cost us.

Murray might play a good game but I would doubt they can score 28 pts. A good game for them is to limit us to about 28 pts. If Murray scores more than 14 pts, it's a fluke. 35-7 Cards.

I read a stat that Mayfield is 80-1 in the last 10 seasons at War Memorial Field with the only loss in 2015 to McCracken County 37-31 in OT. That is crazy! I would love to know what makes it so difficult for opponents to play there other than Mayfield is simply really good.

Actually it’s 2 losses, both to McCraken co, they beat the cardinals there this year 45-35. A lot of things combine to create that kind of winning percentage there, first the cardinals HAVE been VERY GOOD the last 10 years, the other THINGS, we’ll, most people who have never been there will not understand, till they been there, kinda hard to put into words. You pull up on the backside of the stadium, one of the oldest in the state, old brick wall that if it wasn’t for the slant of the bleachers might resemble a prison wall. Painted on that wall are the years of all our state championships, including the run of 4 in a roll. I personally believe all that is intimidating to a lot of visiting kids. Then you get into the stadium, it’s grass field, many teams don’t play on grass all that much, and then the fans...... THEY ARE CRAZY, I won’t even go into the tailgating part, you have to see it, to believe it, and lastly the ghosts of all the years of players past still roam that sacred sod, we know they sometimes make plays for us still. Finally Mayfield players go into EVERY game believing, without a doubt they can’t be beat, especially at home. That’s my take, probably not all believable, but there it is. OH YEAH, I almost forgot, years ago, the well accepted rating system, IMTU, was developed right there, at WAR MEMORIAL, put that in the mix and, we’ll, not many teams survive the experience. Other than that, come enjoy ya short stay, we’ll leave a light in for ya.

Cards roll but tighter than last time

I believe Mayfield does not have play clocks at their Stadium? I can't recall seeing them, that might cause some teams a problem.

Kinda a hard to milk down the clock when your leading a game? Which seldom happens but it does seem purposeful. Just put this on the long list of why War Memorial is the toughest high school venue in Kentucky.

Another thing about War Memorial is that they have no track around the field and the stands are very close to the field. That makes the noise a little rowdier and can be intimidating to teams not used to having screaming fans so close to the action. I also think the end zone tailgate with 4-500 fans leaning on the fence just outside the back end zone marker can affect things for opposing teams, also.

Opposing teams affectionately refer to this area as the "Drunk Zone". Normally an average blood alcohol level of around 0.08 but occasionally outliers can make the whole group legally intoxicated.

Visitors bleachers have a light power pole right in front of them I think. I also never realized their were no dressing rooms even for the home team. The Home side bleachers are cold solid concrete with no seats and so steep if you stand up you think you are going to fall on the field. You usually need rubber boots in the men's rest room. You name its a hard place to watch much less play. Only thing is they win 99.9999 % of the time. So when they say running clock, Mayfield by a Hundred or whatever it will probably come true.

Y'all forgot another very intimidating portion of the stadium. When you come in, you have to go right under the years that MHS won state titles. Then you go into an old dungeon type dressing room, which would tend to intimidate anyone. Then the Cards get a huge boost when they come running out of the tunnel from their dressing room to the field and all the fans are cheering them on. Conversely the opposing team also has to come out of the next tunnel and the fans are not as nice to them. Not to mention the police escort and everything else going on.
#28
Someone touched on this already. However, I was lucky enough to have one of the young men that came through and got 3 state titles in his time. I can tell you, the mindset is the biggest portion of it all. No one wants to be the team that gave up the loss on their home field. Also, they completely buy in and believe they are going to win every single game. Mine told me that he never thought he was going to lose a game even when they were down, no matter how much time was left on the clock. Right up until his last one, which didn't go our way, he still believed and fought for that. Needless to say, it is a very tough place to have to play, unless you are wearing the red and black.

We still use the IMTU.

You can't help yourself with your usual negative psycho babble.

Great place to watch, like you're looking right down on top of the field.

Rest rooms are updated and fine.

14 in a roll.
