CHAPEL HILL—Luke Maye scored 26 points to lead five double-digit scorers as North Carolina defeated Pittsburgh, 96-65, on Saturday night at the Smith Center.

Maye hit 9 of 15 shot attempts, including 3 of 5 three-pointers, and grabbed eight rebounds on the night. Kenny Williams scored 15 for Carolina, while Cameron Johnson scored 14, Joel Berry II had 12 and Sterling Manley 10.

With the win, the Tar Heels snapped their three-game losing streak and improved to 17-7 overall this season, including 6-5 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Pitt fell to 8-16, 0-11.

Carolina won its fifth game in a row in the series and improved to 13-3 all-time against Pitt, including 7-0 in Chapel Hill.

Maye and Johnson both had big first halves for the Tar Heels. Maye hit 5 of 9 shots before the break for 13 points, while Johnson scored 11 against his former team, including eight in a row at one point to help UNC build a 10-point halftime edge after most of the first half was a much closer game. The Panthers hit 8 of 14 three-pointers to keep the game close in the first half.

Carolina started the second half on a hot streak as well, going on an 11-2 run coming out of the locker room and building a 19-point lead to break open the game.

The Tar Heels will return to action on Thursday against Duke.
