(5) Georgetown College 82 Cumberland 75
#1
Georgetown College men's basketball tallied 41 points in each half, then dialed up the defensive intensity for an 82-75 victory over Cumberland University. The Phoenix (8-12, 1-5) led by two at halftime, but Shadell Millinghaus, Jahyde Gardiner and Quan Poindexter came out clicking offensively to help put the No. 5 Tigers (19-2, 4-2) up less than five minutes in and the team never looked back.

Darion Burns and Troy Steward helped to seal it with big steals that led to even bigger baskets. CU was down one with the ball and Burns stole the inbound for a layup.

Minutes later, CU was driving and down two when Steward skied for a steal that led to a three by him on the other end. He passed ahead to Burns who found his old Fleming County teammate on the wing. The three put Georgetown up five and Cumberland never got closer.

Millinghaus finished with a game-high 19 points, while Poindexter (16), Eljay Cowherd (13), Steward (10) and Gardiner (10) also finished in double figures.

Gardiner finished with a team- and game-tying high nine rebounds.

The Tigers are back in action Saturday hosting No. 2 Lindsey Wilson College. Tip is set for 4 pm.
