Lexington High School Student Arrested For Box Cutter Attack
#1
A ninth-grade Frederick Douglass High School student was arrested Friday night after she attacked another student with a box cutter at the home football game against Bryan Station High School, Douglass Principal Lester Diaz said in a statement Saturday.

Diaz said the first girl attacked another ninth-grader, and when the second student tried to defend herself, she was cut in the hand. Bryan Station officials were closest to the fight and immediately intervened, quickly joined by Fayette County schools security officers.

The student with the box cutter was charged with second degree assault and taken into custody, while the other was taken to the hospital by ambulance. Diaz said the arrested student will also face “serious administrative consequences from the district.

“I want to assure you that we will not tolerate this type of behavior at Frederick Douglass High School and will take all steps to ensure that our campus is a safe place to learn and work,” Diaz said.
