An East Side mother is accused of purposely driving her vehicle on the sidewalk to strike and injure her daughter Monday morning, Columbus police said.
Ebony Woody, 34, of the 200 block of South Ashburton Road, was charged with felonious assault, aggravated vehicular assault and endangering children.
Woodyâs 17-year-old daughter is in the OhioHealth Grant Medical Center, where she was being treated for two fractures to her left leg. She was in stable condition.
The 17-year-old girl was walking to school, a few houses down from her residence on South Ashburton Road when Woody drove over the curb on to the sidewalk at 7:55 a.m. Monday, police reported. Woody struck her daughter, knocking her down and running over her leg. She then stopped and backed up, running over her daughterâs leg a second time, police said.
Woody took her daughter to a friendâs house and left her there without reporting the incident. Woody later turned herself in at police headquarters.
