Hazard_dad Wrote:Great win however we have week spots on our defense that needs attention. Also I noticed that on kick offs pike would only kick the ball toward number 1, is that a coincidence...no i think not. I'm sure they watched game film and know that baker is a major weak link for the team. Tonight he also gave up several big plays that allowed pike to advance down field and score. The sane has happened in nearly every game this season. That kid only plays because his dad is the coach. Plain and simple. Our next 3 to 4 games should be easy wins but we will more than likely be playing pikeville again, a change needs to be made.

Congrats to hazard.you guy are a good team id like to see the rematch with you guys an pikeville. We could move the ball we just couldnt turn it into points.good luck to you guys rest of the year an injury free.

No one plays for any other reason than that they earned the spot. They may lose it if someone is playing better at that position......and that goes for any position on the team. Baker has led this team in tackles several times. Excellent on run support. Yes ALL our defense needs to improve. There is great potential for this defense but now is the time to step up.
I would like to remind all that KIDS read this stuff. KIDS. Kids playing as hard as they can and under all kinds of social, academic, and athletic pressure. No one wants to do well more than they do.
This is no place to bad mouth anyone. You can count on one thing....these kids will rally around each other whether anyone else does or not.
I'd chose carefully comments made on here if one has the best interest of this team and the kids at heart. They DO read this forum and a lot of hurt can be dumped on a kid and parents with nothing to gain from it.

I agree not ok to bash any kid. They are kids. And Baker does a fine job. But I am wondering where you got your stats. When did he lead in tackles several times? Again not trying to take anything from him just a stat follower.

Baker led team at Pikeville and Prestonsburg I think. There were another couple he was tied or right up there. You're right for sure in that his height hurt son those tossup balls against
Big receivers. But except for a few plays (like the rest of the dbs) he's been in the right place. He's learning I think that he will have to play those differently My point is that he really is very good supporting the run in spite of his size. Tackles in open field and gets up on the screen quickly. Braxton Whitaker may be as good a run support safety as there is in right now around and Baker does hold his own on the other side. All of out Dbs need to play the pass better including Baker but I think they will.
Also these kids are still sophomores and Juniors and there's time to get better. You're right in that ifHazard is to make a run they have to get better right now. Blair has really come on at qb of late and he had not been as good earlier so I expect the same improvement with the rest of the younger kids.
In my opinion overall at Pike Central the team as a whole did not play as well as they had been.
Coach Dixon will play the best players. The older kids get every chance to prove themselves and if they just can't get it done the younger kids play. I have faith this team is still a work in progress and there is potential to make a run this year and big time potential next year for sure.

You better check those stats again he never led in any game. Khsaa site has all the stats.

Hazard is rounding into shape for a playoff push

Stats posted online say different but I wasn't there. They show holland and pelfry with a wide margin leading the team in tackles. Yes Blair stepping it up and whitaker looking real good. Get the mistakes to a minimum and this team is making a run for sure.

Just a reminder...

It's not hard to figure what is happening with the stats when you have one of the mamas riding around in the golf cart with the statician during practice.....
