Pikeville 42 Beechwood 28 (1A State Championship)
#91
You kids. Congrats PHS! Now 3 and (especially) 4A.
#92
Congrats Pike from way out West! That 1A trophy sure likes the far corners of the state

Way to go Pikeville!!! Brought the hardware back from to the east! Knew it would happen from the beginning of the season. Thought and hoped it would have been my Rams, then it looked like Paintsville would be the king of the mountain, but let me say that this Pikeville team, after the loss to Belfry, is a completely different team than they were early on in the year. Balanced, FAST, and smart. Happy for you guys! For this weekend any way, HAIL PIKEVILLE!

Paparazzi Wrote:Turning in for the night fellows. Just want to ask one favor. Let's adopt the Pulaski maroons as a mountain team. Come on they are close enough and we damn sure can't be for Bowling Green! Give me some support for Riley Hall guys. Come on!

Comparing Pulaski Co to EKY would be like Indianapolis to NKY...Confusednicker: I think you're a wee bit reaching Paparazzi.

I will however, support the heck out of Riley Hall and the Maroons after watching them come back and pull away from Highlands last week. The young man is a lot of fun to watch, a good field general, and very cool/collected!

Best of luck to the Maroons against BG...

Just walked in the door from BG....I'm still so pumped I don't know when it'll be before I get to sleep....Let me start by saying I was highly impressed by WKU and their facilities.

Congrats Pikeville!

Woops, hit send too soon....LOL!!!
Secondly-Congrats to Beechwood on a great season and a hard fought game

Last but not least-Congrats to my 2015 STATE CHAMPION PIKEVILLE PANTHERS!!! WHAT A SPECIAL GROUP THIS IS!!! Coach Mac and his staff have done a tremendous job with this group of young men. I've seen so much growth out of them over the course of the season. This may be one of the most focused football teams over the last month that I've seen in a long time. When Beechwood took the lead late in the third. Pikeville just found a whole new gear on both sides of the ball and Beechwood couldn't keep up. Daric Pughs name deserves to be mentioned with the likes of Hackney, Deramus, Bailey, and Coleman. The kid may just be the best that ever played here! Congrats to Coach Mac on being the first person in school history to win a Championship as both a Player and a Coach. He's a great coach and even better human being. We're blessed to have him. Now Belfry, JC, and Pulaski. We did our part. Now finish the MOUNTAIN SWEEP!!!HAIL PIKEVILLE!!!!

I'll definitely be supporting Pulaski County. It's not quite the same for me as Pikeville, JC, and Belfry but I certainly hope they can go back to back this weekend.

Great job Panthers. Way to kick some tail!!!!
HAIL PIKEVILLE!!! Congrats to the panthers! Way to represent our brand of football in Eastern Kentucky! The mountains have a chance to dominate this year!

ROFL!! That is me to a "T". We were rolling on the floor at you when you posted....that's it, I'm turning it off!!

Oh this game will live in the memories of those kids forever, especially the Seniors!! Great great job!!

Paparazzi Wrote:I'm proud to see all the fans of eastern ky teams pulling together and supporting our area teams. Sometimes that's tough if you lost to that team and you could have won the state yourself. That shows lots of class to all of the mountains. Proud as hell to support all our teams!
There were fans from all over eastern Kentucky on the boards last night, supporting Pikeville!! And the Panthers didn't disappoint!!

PHS95 Wrote:Going back and watching this game for some highlights-- I, personally, think it is PITIFUL that the announcers on the KHSAA feed spent the entire game calling Wyatt Battaile Cody Dials-- Seriously?!? did they even LOOK at the roster?!
From what I heard, the live feed was not worth the money. The announcers that I was listening to talked a lot about how the game was officiated. Evidently, holding is not a penalty in western Kentucky! Confusednicker:

Pirates77 Wrote:my son is a assistant coach for Belfry Middle and he is going down Saturday morning to root for Pulaski......GO all Eastern KY teams...lets show them what us mountain hillbillies are like!!!!:flame:
I'm going down to root for Pulaski, too. If it wasn't Christmas time, I would've sprung for a 4 day stay at the hotel so I could've cheered for Pikeville last night, but I just couldn't do it!!

I'm hoping for a three title game sweep!!

Good Job Pikeville!!!!!
Congratulations Pikeville great job and great season.
Congrats to the Pikeville Panthers on winning the schools fourth state championship! I've known some of these boys really well for a couple of years now and to see them reach the pinnacle of high school football is incredible!
Special shout out to Daric Pugh. I'm sure Daric doesn't know me, but I've been around the gym quite a bit and I've seen this young man put in countless hours of HARD work from the time he was around 14 years of age.

Honestly, if any of you have been in the gym during the same time you know exactly what I'm talking about. He's an animal in the weightroom. He attacks his workouts and has been doing so for quite some time. It's just a really awesome thing, in my opinion, to see a young kid reap the benefits of their labors.

His hard work, and the hard work of his teammates, has given them a memory to last a lifetime and I'm tickled to death for their dreams to come true.

Great job!
Congratulations Panthers!!!
Big Five-0- Wrote:Thanks EKEAlum05. Can't forget my Buddy PHSForever. Saw him tonight for the first time. Always good to put a face with a name . Also, it was great to see former players that won the first, second, and third championship for Pikeville. Looking forward to Belfry, and Johnson central wins this weekend as well........Bring it to the mountains boys !!!

Absolutely cannot forget PHSForever! One of my favorites
A good portion of the discussion at the weekly Red Helmet Club breakfast here in Mayfield, was devoted to the absolute man handling Pikeville put on Beechwood in the 4th quarter. We were impressed with the power running.
Congrats !!

I predict that a lot of people in the east figure out something that we have been trying to tell you for about the past five years. I think they will see why so many Mayfield posters have said for years that Beechwood was the toughest team we played. I may be wrong but, that is what I see.

We will get you an appointment with 64sur's eye doctor. Confusednicker:
Big Win for a Mountain team I hope three more mountain teams win. I always pull for mountain teams in the playoffs Congratulations Pikeville

Thanks, guys! 5-0, good to see you! I just got back, getting ready to head over to the community celebration at he high school soon. Just an unreal feeling right now to see my son involved with all of this.
Congrats to your son. It is truly a great feeling.
Beechwood fans on the other site making excuses and resorting to playing the "if" game makes me feel warm and fuzzy all over. Beechwhatif Tigers.:kneel:
congratulations Pikeville Panthers..I want to wish belfry and Johnson Central the best of luck, we will be cheering you on!!
The boys just went by my work. I've not seen so many police cruisers since OJ was on the loose.

Felt proud for the community. Congrats once again to the players and coaching staff of the 2015 State Champion Pikeville Panthers.
Here in Mayfield when we win it all it is unbelievable the sights you will see. There will be police cars, fire trucks and a couple miles of private vehicles lined up at the Marshall Co line to escort the team back in and around town. A journey of about 10 miles. However, if we don't win, nothing.
Last year was Pikeville's first ever season having a wrestling team.

They had some of their football players make it to the state wrestling meet.

This year, they win the 1A State Football Championship.... Daric Pugh and Logan Coleman (Player of the Game) made it to the state wrestling meet.
