Highlands 42, Covington Catholic 7
#1
The score says it all.
#2
same story different book

I'm not surprised! I called a 3-4 touchdown win for the Bluebirds. It will be interesting to see what the rest of 4A has to offer considering Covington Catholic was the "clear cut" #2 team in 4A.

Yes, it was ME that posted this after week 1:

Quote:^ No, I certainly don't expect to hear the Birds fans say anything about reffing. It was equally bad for both teams. What I am sure they will be impressed with is the hard hitting that the Camels did. On more than one occasion, the Camels put the wood on Bird receivers and left them on the ground.

The Camels were affected by miscues in the first half. The Birds clicked and made the Camels pay for their mistakes. Nobody should forget that this game was 23-0 at the half. I did not see the same level of execution from the Birds in the 2nd half, but some of that had to do with the 23-0 lead, so I'm not going to be naive here and say it was all Camels. But, the Camels did settle down in the 2nd half and played NKY 6A smash mouth football. The Birds looked worn down in the 4th quarter. I can't say that is what it was, but they certainly did not look sharp.

Now, CCH fans, don't take stock in this game as any indication that you have a chance against Highlands, because you do not! Meril Hodge's son is the REAL DEAL! When this team gets a few more games under their belt, they will be the typical HHS team of old. If the Birds do not make it to the Final Four this year, it will because of major loses of personnel.

As for the Camels, I was fearful that losing Wilson as the incoming QB would set this team back. What happened is that I think I just lost my catcher, because I don't think he will comeback to Baseball after what I saw from him tonight. Yes, he can run the football, but this Tim Tebow can THROW!!!!

Good gawd, I never thought I would have saw HHS fans believe the end is nigh! I guess we should all start planning for Armageddon, because the world we now know is over. - See more at: http://www.bluegrassrivals.com/forum/sho...ost1791596

Do I expect bluedad1 to come tither and say "Dusty, I apologize for failing to understand the breadth of football knowledge, and for that, I bow to the King and retract my posts below"

Quote:So Cov Cath doesn't have a chance- yet Campbell comes within a touchdown. A Campbell team that Cov Cath was beating 28-14 at the end of the 3rd quarter when the JV's for both teams came in to make it a 42-14 final.
I respect Campbell Co but you don't think that once Cov Cath gets a few games under their belt, that they might have a couple things to say about that game too? - See more at: http://www.bluegrassrivals.com/forum/sho...ost1791596

I said you called it in the update thread.

Cov Cath shouldn't even be considered a contender every year like they are. They wont ever make it out of region.
#6
I agree with you RIUTG.
#7
All Highlands! Highlands up 14-0 at half after going scoreless 3 different times with the ball inside the 5. CCH's goal line D kept this game from being over in the first half. Highlands goes up 42-0 in second half and starts the running clock. CCH scores on backups with about 2 mins to go in the game.

wtf

Lets stop calling this a rivalry, or even a game for that matter.

It seems Highlands has a bigger worry with Johnson Central every year.
Cov Cath will never make it out of the region as long as Highlands still has a football team. This annual game has become a joke.

even worse than expected.

Oops, did not see this thread already opened, can someone combine the two HHS/CCH threads.

Congrats to the birds on the w. The blueboys come to the fort and lay an egg....go figure!!! SMH

A big hats off to the birds coaching staff on preparation and getting their kids ready to play and execute. Apparently this wasn't the same highlands team that showed some weaknesses against Campbell County!

You were told the Campbell game was not as close as the score would make you think it was. And highlands is not the same team as the one that played that night. Scary thing is they are going to get better.

The first quarter was really close... Birds just made a few pivotal turnover plays, deflated the Colonels and piled on some more TDs... The Bird D looked really good. Cov Cath's D looked good early too. Cov Cath made some big plays but blew some red zone opportunities with poor coaching decisions.

Next round Cov Cath will be better prepared and pissed off... Like always the score in the regional will be closer. The worst thing about the game for the Colonels I saw was that they gave up... you could see it in the body language and energy... They cant do that if they want to win this game.

It is still a rivalry and both teams buy into it and are pumped for this game every year.... in the next couple years (maybe this year) Cov Cath will get over the hump a few times and even it out a bit.

Whatevs, I don't mind being wrong when im wrong about how good my birds are.... I just thought there has to be a year Cov Cath wins??????

the first half was pretty much even though.... birds piled it on... they were the better team but the score doesn't match the distance between these two teams.

If the ball bounces cov cath way a few times... and the colonels don't completely give up this game could have been really close. I think they bought in to all the hype and then forgot that you have to punch highlands in face all night long.

im telling you round 2 will be way more interesting

cov cath coaching vs highlands coaching is very lopsided is the real issue.

Having not seen either team, this score surprised me after the Courier-Journal had Cov Cath the overall #1 in the state in their rankings.
#25
How long is Worth going to keep his job being 0 and 11 against Highlands? Didn't Mueller make a joke about really enjoying coaching against Worth during his retirement speech at the NKY banquet last year?
#26
What did you expect.
#27
I'll have a slice of crow as well. Thought this was the year. Did not expect such a lopsided score.

Nope, can't say that I did either. I think I predicted 35-21 or something. I thought CovCath was bringing back enough to make this interesting this year, but this was truly pathetic.
