Region 8 wrestling results
#1
Johnson Central wins their 6th straight team regional championship.

Montgomery County (194) took 2nd... Harrison County (193.5) took 3rd.
Harrison County would have been very close to JC if they didn't have the kid ejected for going in to UFC mode on the sheldon clark kid.

Bourbon Co. 4th
Sheldon Clark 5th
Ashland 6th
Belfry 7th
Perry Co. Central 8th
Pike Co. Central 9th
Boyd Co. 10th
Letcher Co. Central 11th
Phelps 12th
East Ridge 13th

Didn't stick around for who won M.O.W.

Ashland did an excellent job with running the tournament.

4 mats.... a good PA system and good hospitality room makes for a well ran tourney.

However, the guys who were "in charge" of keeping people off the mat area and the sidelines really needs a class in how to deal with people. They were really rude when they could have easily asked.... then they let some middle school aged kids lay around the mat area without saying anything.
Some people just can't handle authority.

There was some great matches throughout the day....

The Peters kid from Pike Co. Central was down in the HWT. finals, then with about 10 seconds left in the 3rd period... he hits a 5 point move and wins.

The 8th grader Blake Gamble from JC had two very tough matches. One in the semi-finals against the kid from Bourbon Co. that went in to OT.... and in the finals against the Montgomery Co. kid. Gamble got rolled in the finals and was almost flat, twice. But he got free and won the match.

Wonder if they now will take wrestling serious and go after a coach. Disgrace to allow 4 coaches in four year with no experience in wrestling.

The Montgomery County coach is the most animated person I've ever seen.
