Analysis
Cincy returns the most starters in the Big East, and is better than their projected record, but they have an outrageous non-conference schedule and they get some key conference games on the road…

Cincy will be very good defensively this season (they weren‘t last season), Dantonio is some kind of defensive mind…

They’ll need the offense to step up, they only averaged 16 PPG in conference last season..

If they didn’t have two sure fire L’s on their non-conference slate, I’d give them a chance at bowl eligibility, but they are going to be play four potential top 15 teams…

Syracuse
Head Coach: Greg Robinson (1-10 overall)

Last season: 1-10 (no bowl)

Passing: Perry Patterson (130-273, 1504 yards, 6 TD, 11 INT)

Sept. 23 Miami OH W

Sept. 30 Wyoming W

Oct. 7 Pittsburgh L

Oct. 14 at West Virginia L

Oct. 21 Louisville L

Oct. 28 at Cincy L

Nov. 11 at South Florida L

Nov. 18 UCONN L

Nov. 25 at Rutgers L

2-10 overall (0-7 conference)
5 “swing” games

Analysis
Syracuse was about as bad as anyone in D-1 last season. They changed from a option attack to a West Coast system under the new head coach, and it didn’t go so well…

If Greg Robinson is smart, he’ll start true freshman Andrew Robinson. He is a quarterback who can run his system, unlike the other two who saw playing time last season…

Robinson will get his team playing good defense, he was at Texas in 04 and has been a NFL defensive coordinator in the past….

Syracuse is in full blown rebuilding mode, and this year could be their worse. They’ll eventually return to respectability, but much like other programs who have switched offenses, results will be slow to come in….

Notre Dame
Head Coach: Charlie Weis (9-3 overall)

Last season: 9-3 (lost 34-20 to Ohio St. in Fiesta Bowl)

# of returning starters: 16 (7 offense, 9 defense)

Returning Leaders:
Passing: Brady Quinn (292-450, 3919 yards, 32 TD, 7 INT)

Rushing: Darius Walker (253 att, 1274 yards)

Receiving: Jeff Samardzija (77 rec, 1249 yards)

Tackles: Ambrose Wooden (74)

Sacks: Victor Abiamiri (8)

Interceptions: Tom Zbikowski (5)

Schedule/Projected W-L Record
Sept. 2 at Georgia Tech W

Sept. 9 Penn St. W

Sept. 16 Michigan W

Sept. 23 at Michigan St. W

Sept. 30 Purdue W

Oct. 7 Stanford

Oct. 21 UCLA W

Oct. 28 at Navy W

Nov. 4 North Carolina W

Nov. 11 at Air Force W

Nov. 18 Army W

Nov. 25 at USC W

12-0 overall (no conference)
5 “swing” games

Analysis
Notre Dame was a huge surprise last year (to everyone put me), I had them winning eight games and going to the Gator Bowl, they only slightly outdid my projections…

Brady Quinn, along with Adrian Peterson, should be considered the favorites to win the Heisman trophy. If Quinn continues his improvement, he’ll simply be unstoppable…

Charlie Weis, along with Urban Meyer, maybe the smartest person in college football. The way he controls this team is nothing short of interesting…

If ND can get through the first four weeks undefeated, they should be 11-0 going to USC for revenge. If that’s the case, I look for them to beat the Trojans by a very comfortable margin and play for the National Championship….
