15 year prison sentence for former referee
#1
former eastern Kentucky high school referee is sentenced to 15 years in jail on drug charges in Letcher County.
An undercover video, a jury, and now a judge all find Tommy Hutton guilty of drug charges putting him in prison.
"A lot of people have expressed dismay about the length of that sentence, not the fact that he got a sentence but the length of it," said James Wiley Craft, a defense attorney.
Hutton was sentenced to 10 years on one count of drug trafficking and five years for possession.
"There were a lot of people that had a great deal of respect for him, and the fact that he was such a position of trust and authority made it all the worse," said Commonwealth's Attorney Edison Banks.
Video revealed Hutton selling prescription pills which is what his defense attorney says put him behind bars.
In the video, it is clear Hutton is not selling 'barbeque sauce.'
"If you want, if you want some more of that barbeque sauce, you can stop by, you know?" said Tommy Hutton, in the undercover video.
"That video was an absolute killer. There was just no defending against that," said Craft.
Ultimately, both sides say they respect the jury's recommendations.
Hutton will be eligible for parole in three years.

“Relax, all right? Don’t try to strike everybody out. Strikeouts are boring! Besides that, they’re fascist. Throw some ground balls – it’s more democratic.”

If your team (whoever it is) is playing Powell County, no matter where it's at, if he's reffing he will do whatever it takes to screw you over.

Tommy never learned. He's always ran with garbage, and it came back to bite him in the butt. Now, if they'd just lock up a certain ex coach at a certain high school in Letcher County thats no longer open (a sentence thats been long overdue), along with about 70% OF the county, then we can start to get a grip on this "drug problem"...

Whats that? That would crowd the jail population?
There's always Iraq and Afghanistan. There's housing to be built in parts of the world where millions of children die everyday because of their living conditions.

I agree. Dont give them a 15 year jail sentence. Give them 15 years labor in these poverty stricken areas of the country, and other parts of the world building housing communities, hospitals, schools, etc. And since there's over-population in the jails, dont just release those assholes, extend them the same courtesy. If they'd start making these people work for 20 or 30 years for free, instead of sleep and eat 20 or 30 years for free, it would at least be a win-win lol...Oh, you screwed up? Free labor for all!
