This time next year we can have a discussion with the Pikeville fans and see if they are still proud of their hire. He also coached at East Ridge.

Pikeville was very limited in their search because of teaching positions. They could not hire a couple of real good active coaches because of this. Bobby is retired from teaching so this fit their needs. I think this is a trend we are going to see more of in the future. I think the 15th region already has a few coaches who do not teach. Bobby will do a good job, just don't know for how long.

Pikeville fired Cindy Stuart so they could hire Bobby Spears? Seriously??????
#8
That cannot be true on the teaching position. I know that they offered it to Doe Doe Rowe and then to Randy Davis. Both are teachers. I am supprised that they passed on Joey thacker with the success he has had and he was bringing his daughters... Good luck to coach Spears and the Panthers.

Stuart ran it into the ground. Now this hire..wow.

From what I understand four candidates interviewed for the job and Rowe and Davis did not interview.

Let's give it a season before passing judgement. Pikeville has been dormant for years.

Your right they didnt interview. I heard through a reliable source Davis was offered. Pikeville did call Doe Doe and ask if he would take it. Thats a fact!

Pikeville painted themselves in a corner.

Another post slamming Stuart. Things must be slow in Perry County. With the talent she had available, she did a pretty good job. One really bad year did her overall record in here. I'm not too happy about the Spears hire though. Will just reserve judgement and see if he learned anything from his past "mistakes".

I don't know what subjects that Rowe and Davis teach, but Pikeville School system does not have an abundance of teaching positions open. My wife called there pursuing a job opportunity and was told there might be 2 english positions open there, she is a math teacher so she did not pursue any further. So unless these guys are English teachers there were no positions available. I understand that their PE and Health positions are already filled by other coaches, just where were they going to place these coaches they offered the jobs to, with todays economic situation, I believe the days of creating a 60,000 $ job for someone to coach is a thing of the past, as my comment about the trend of hiring retired coaches to coach only, therefore not tying up a teachers position.

I dont know a lot bout Spears but seems like a good hire. I do know Spears is a winner, 400+ career wins.

Best of Luck Lady Panthers!
