Clay Nelson, Placekicker/South Warren
#1
Nelson, a 5-foot-10, 150-pound senior, booted 11 of 13 field goals, seven longer than 35 yards and three game-winners for the first-year school.

The son of coach Mark Nelson also made 19 of 22 extra points.

“Clay was our second-leading scorer with 52 points and he came up big for us,” Mark Nelson said. “He was a very hard worker and leader for our team. He had some big kicks for us, getting us some points when we would bog down.”

Mark Nelson said his son got stronger as the season went on, booting four field goals in the final regular-season game – a 33-30 win over Todd County Central. He had a 38-yard field goal, tied the score at 0:22 and then won it with a 28-yard field goal with :08 left.
