OMG, so the Reds have to put up with those ugly Marlins uni's first???

2012 World Series champions!...I wish.

Optimistic but they did go get people who can contribute. To me their the favorite in the Central and even bigger if Prince leaves the Brewers. I just wished Chapman would go to a closers role and trade Cordero for either Lf or SS that can hold their weight in a game

Going to try to get some tickets for this season!

Don't forget Ryan Braun's likely 50 game suspension, their pitching will have to save them until he returns.

The Reds can't trade Cordero, he's a free agent.

And I'm perfectly happy with Zack Cozart at SS this coming year. I am excited to see what he does over a full season. As for LF, I wouldn't mind adding someone else, but only if he's a DEFINITE upgrade over Chris Heisey. That eliminates pretty well all of the available free agent outfielders.

As for a trade, the Reds still have a surplus of starting pitchers (Cueto, Latos, Arroyo, Leake, Bailey, and Chapman). Latos and Cueto aren't going anywhere, and no one would take Arroyo. Leake and Bailey would have trade value, though, and I would be fine with packaging either of them with Heisey for an upgrade in LF. But like I said earlier, it has to be a CLEAR upgrade or don't do it.

well it looks like Fielders leading candidate is Washington Nationals unless something's changed in the past couple days

Why would you wanna trade Leake?

He had a really solid year last year, he'll come next season as the #3 guy in the rotation for sure.

Yea why trade leake away.

I didn't say I WANTED to trade Leake. I just said I was WILLING to trade him if he could be used to bring back a stud left fielder. And I know he had a really good year last season, but then again, isn't that when you're supposed to trade a guy, when his value is at his highest?

I will say, I do like Mike Leake. He reminds me of a poor man's Greg Maddux, and I think he has a good future ahead of him in baseball. He will never be a staff ace, and maybe not even a #2 starter. But he should be a solid #3 for many years to come.

The thing with trades is you have to give up something of value in order to get something of value. No one is going to give us a big bat in LF unless we give them something they want, and if that something is a #3 level starting pitcher like Mike Leake, then so be it. As long as we get back a MAJOR upgrade in LF, then I am okay with dealing either him or Bailey.
