Reds 9 Giants 0
#1
Johnny Cueto throws a complete game 3 hit shutout to complete a 3 game sweep of the World Series Champion San Francisco Giants this weekend! Drew Stubbs goes 4 for 5 and Joey Votto goes 2 for 4 with a 3-Run Homer and 4 RBIs. Hopefully the Reds can keep this up and get back into good position for the pennant!!

Current Standings ( W - L GB)

Milwaukee Brewers 60 - 49 -

St. Louis Cardinals 57 - 51 2.5

Pittsburgh Pirates 54 - 52 4.5

Cincinnati Reds 53 - 55 6.5

Johnny Cueto now has pitched enough innings to have his ERA credited...

He's 1st in the National League.

I was looking at the schedule for August and it actually looks very favorable, not alot of NL Central battles but alot, alot of teams who are at or under .500.

Now is the time to strike.

It's amazing how the team can look so bad in getting swept 4 games by the NY Mets, then turn around and dominate the defending champion Giants for a 3 game sweep of their own. Just maddening inconsistency from this team.

And J-Rod, you're right, the schedule looks pretty favorable the rest of the way, so I won't count the Reds out just yet. Here's what their next 4 weeks look like:

Astros - 3 games
Cubs - 3
Rockies - 4
Padres - 3
Nationals - 6
Pirates - 3
Marlins - 3

The only team on that list currently above .500 is Pittsburgh, meaning Cincy plays 22 of the next 25 against teams with losing records. If the Reds are going to make a move to get back in the race, they've got to make it happen over the next 4 weeks. Otherwise, it'll be time to look toward 2012.

Like J-Rod said, if the Reds are going to make a run, August is the month to do it!!
