Another democratic 'piece of work' floats to the top
#1
Representative David Wu (D) Oregon, is the latest democrat to fall having been taken in acts of sexual depravity. The straw that broke the camel's back or, maybe I should have said tiger's back, were yet more illicit sexual accusations about he and the 18 year old daughter of a long time friend and campaign donor.

I don't get it, what is the fascination with these guys and their tallywhacker? :flush:

David Wu inexplicably dressed in a tiger suit. (This was not taken at a Halloween or other costume party.)

Seriously 23, it doesn't concern you that the legislative branch of government is overrun with perverts? They've got a job to do up on the hill in that the importance of their decisions could not be overstated. If the centerfielder on your team used bad judgement he'd miss a lot of balls out there. It's no different for the US lawmakers, we rely on them to exercise good judgement, while in office at least, in order for them to make good law. You really comfortable with some bozo dressed up in a tiger suit chasing 18 year olds around?

Really. I see your point. Like Wu, multiple women accused Bill Clinton of sexual assault or sexual harassment and Clinton's alleged victims were also much younger than him. I think Ensign resigned over a consensual extramarital affair, did he not?

President Clinton should have resigned

I agree but he should have been convicted by the Senate for perjury. Infidelity should not be grounds for impeachment. If politicians have no sense of honor (and few do), then as long as they have broken no laws or breached any serious ethics rules, it should be up to voters to remove them from office.

The Wu situation reminds me of the one with Dan Rostenkowsi during the Clinton administration. Rosty was a felon whose days were clearly numbered but Clinton needed his vote, so Democrats kept him around as long as possible, despite knowing that he was probably headed to the pokey.

Wu has now been accused of two separate women of forcing himself on them. Yet Democrats want to make sure that he is around to vote on the debt ceiling.

He committed perjury and should have resigned it wasn't about the little blue dress or cigar

 I fully agree, if liberal Democrats in the Senate had any sense of decency, they would have sent a senior member to the White House and told Clinton that it was time to go - as Republicans did when Nixon was determined to find to the bitter end.

The charges against Congressman Wu are much more serious than role playing with an 18-year old. The tiger suit is unrelated but was enough for some members of his staff to question his soundness of mind. Wu needs to resign immediately and Democrats need to stop putting votes above ethics.

Actually it is. Wu is 55 years old and the divorced father of two children, the oldest would be about 15 years old. How would you like it if you were a 15 year old high schooler. The son of the US Representative from Oregon, whose main claim to fame is a self inflicted picture of himself in a tiger suit trying to be salacious, floating around on the world wide web and national news? Add to that the particularly demeaning media coverage regarding his depraved personal dealings with the opposite sex, that fall far short of fitting for a US legislator.

If this guy was your next door neighbor and just worked at wal-mart you'd tell your wife and daughter to avoid him at all costs. How much higher should the standard of personal judgement be for a guy who writes US law?

I know Clinton lowered the standard of behavior for those in high elected office down to the level of a back door massage parlor madam. But, I was never able to realign my expectations for those in government quite that low.

Republican city councilman Mark Harris, who is described as a "good military man" and "church goer," was convicted of repeatedly having sex with an 11-year-old girl and sentenced to 12 years in prison.
Republican businessman Jon Grunseth withdrew his candidacy for Minnesota governor after allegations surfaced that he went swimming in the nude with four underage girls, including his daughter.

Republican director of the "Young Republican Federation" Nicholas Elizondo molested his 6-year old daughter and was sentenced to six years in prison.
Republican president of the New York City Housing Development Corp. Russell Harding pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography on his computer.

Dasen, 62, who is married with grown children and several grandchildren, has allegedly told police that over the past decade he paid more than $1 million to have sex with a large number of young women.
Republican Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld authorized the rape of children in Iraqi prisons in order to humiliate their parents into providing information about the anti-American insurgency. See excerpt of one prisoner's report here and his full report here.

There are some big fish in this list 23, though most are far below the level of federal legislators. I'll address the one's at the federal level and these guys are trully scumbags; Lukens scandal is from 1989, Dan Crane scandal is from 1983 and Bauman is from 1980. I usually don't post sensational news unless it's at least as new as 2000 and after. LOL

This isn't about picking on democrats, it's about the credibility of federal lawmakers. You can bet if a republican does something like Weiner or Wu did I'd have just as much contempt for him/her. One can scarcely believe a word that the dems are saying these days, it goes to character. For example, Reid comes up with a debt ceiling deal that promises 2.7 trillion in spending cuts. It comes out in the last couple days that most of those cuts are once again smoke and mirrors just like in the recent budget negotiations Boehner got duped on. It turns out that of the 2.7 tillion, 1 tillion of that figure is attributed to the impossible scenario that IF the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq were to run 10 more years THAT would cost 1 trillion and since they're not going to let that happen we will be cutting that 1 trillion from the budget over 10 years. That's bogus accouting or stretching the truth or whatever, but, it certainly isn't 1 tillion in cuts. Now turning attention to the remaining 1.7 tillion. Would you bet your house the rest of the 1.7 in cuts are for real?

TheRealThing Wrote:Actually it is.

I get what your saying.
What he did was pretty gross and negatively impacted the lives of his friends and family....
It's sick, it's awful...
but does the fact that he likes to get freaky with 18 year olds mean he can't vote on a bill.

I just think that people that make US Law should have a measure of integrity. What they do in their private lives is the true revelation of what and Wu they really are. If they cannot demonstrate sound judgement when they are out of the public eye why should we trust their judgement when they write, debate, amend and vote on the bills that become the law of the land? Will they put the country first or a political mind set/agenda? How can we trust people that are known liars when they get up on national TV and lay out their case to the public at large? It's not like they could check their sexual depravity at the door of the Senate or House Chambers when they go to work.

I don't know how Americans can trust perverts to make any decisions about matters that affect them and their families. Much less, craft legislation that puts another hand on the helm of our future and our children's future. To me this whole matter is healthy and shows the system still works. The natural elimination of people who have been put into a position of leadership that they do not deserve. Once they find themselves in the toilet somebody just needs to pull the handle. :flush: And, I would add that it wouldn't make the least bit of difference to me what their party affiliation was, I would feel the same about a D or an R.

So, if Wu is guilty of the accusation made by that 18-year old, it should make no difference because he is capable of casing a vote? That is a pretty low bar you are setting. If sexual abuse or rape is not a disqualifer, what about murder?

Maybe we should just skip the formalities of voting and just use prison labor to fill the 535 slots in Congress, as well as their staffs. That would save a substantial amount in salaries and pensions. Prisoners in states such as North Carolina do a good job removing litter from the nation's highways - that is more beneficial than the laws that have been passed by Obama and his cohorts in Congress. Why not just give convicted felons their shot at making laws. Could they do much worse than the socialists who have been making them?

Seriously, do we want people sociopaths and psychopaths spending trillions of dollars and depriving us of more of our liberty? Put Wu in the TSA where forcibly assaulting 18 year old women is just part of the job description.

Forcibly Assaulting?

If you are pointing out that using "forcibly" with "assaulting" is redundant, then I concede the point. If you are expressing surprise at the nature of the allegation, then I will point out that you mounted a spirited defense without even determining what you were defending, based entirely upon Wu's party affiliation.

From an article in the Oregonian:

Quote:Wu announced his planned resignation Tuesday, following a story by The Oregonian that the 18-year-old daughter of a friend had accused him of an aggressive and unwanted sexual encounter. Wu said he will leave after the vote on the debt ceiling. That probably means next week. Link

A similar allegation was made against Wu by a former girlfriend when he was still a college student.

This low-life does not deserve defending, except in the legal sense of the word, and most of the long list of Republicans that you smeared by lumping them in with this guy do not deserve that either. This scandal is not about a married Congressman having kinky sex with an 18-year old girl.

I had only read what was on here, I really couldnt care less about Democrat Or Republican Scumbags. Its not worth me wasting my time over. I admit i had no idea this was an Assault. With saying so it is unfortunate that this happened, And i hope he gets what he deserves.

I merely posted all the republican scandals just to point out it happens on both sides, weather there the truth or lies.

What happened to innocent until proven guilty? You know as well as I, that not all allegations against high profile people are true.

Now you say that you don't care but you cared enough to find a list of mostly obscure Republicans, some of whom were never even elected to office to show that Republicans were guilty of the same sort of thing that Wu had done. The problem is that you had no idea what Wu had done, making your moral equivalency argument as watertight as a sieve.

It seems to me that a more accurate characterization of your interest in this story is that you don't care what Democrat scumbags do, just the Republican ones. If you didn't care about either, then you would have just skipped this thread.

Did you read the post that I quoted? Let me translate part of it for you.

When I told WCF23 that this lowlife does not deserve defending, I meant that he does not deserve the effort that WCF23 expended in his defense. The words in blue mean that Wu does deserve a legal defense in a court of law, if that becomes necessary.

"Innocent until proven guilty" has no meaning outside of court. None of us are legally barred from drawing our own conclusions about an individual's guilt or innocence. Wu has elected to resign rather than defend himself in the court of public opinion. Maybe like OJ, he will search for the man that abused these women on America's finest golf courses.

My biggest problem is that Democrats are once again willing to let a Congressman who very likely committed a felony to hang around long enough to help block a Republican-sponsored debt ceiling bill. They did the same thing in the Dan Rostenkowski case. Everybody knew that Rosty was a thief who was headed to prison but Clinton and his supporters' primary concern was that he remain in Congress long enough to help get a bill passed before he was indicted.

Wu will probably never be charged criminally but how many people do you know who have been falsely charged by two different women of sexual abuse or rape over a span of more than 30 years? It is theoretically possible that Wu is an innocent man and if he is indicted, then nobody is suggesting that he be treated as a guilty man by our legal system prior to a trial.
