Perry County Central 2011-2012
#1
They lost a lot in graduation, but who didn't? With Beverly, Combs, Huff, and Cornett back, I see them as my favorite to win the region. Players such as Prey will need to step up their game to help bring a repeat.
#2
Should be a good year.
They will be a lot smaller....
#3
The biggest question mark going into the season for the Commodores is depth. PCC will need help from their bench to repeat. IMO.
#4
Lost Players:
C - 6'8" Dillon Cornett - 11.7 ppg, 6.5 rpg - Led Team in PPG
F/C - 6'3" Axl Sizemore - 2.1 ppg, 2.6 rpg
G - 5'8" Dustin Brewer - 4.2 ppg

Returning Player:
(8th) - G - Braxton Beverly - 8.7 ppg

(Jr.) - F/C - Dalton Cornett - 10 ppg, 7.6 rpg - Led team in rebounding

(Sr.) - F - Kyle Huff - 8.5 ppg

(Sr.) - G - Trevor Combs -7.5 ppg

(Jr.) - F - Trevor Kelly, and (Jr.) - G - Austin Pray will both see playing time for Perry.

Perry Central will be preseason #1 team in the region.

Perry has some great role players (Huff, Combs, and Pray) but this season will be all about the upcoming star and last season regional MVP 8th grader Braxton Beverly. But Braxton has a very good running mate in 6'7" Senior Dalton Cornett.. Cornett had an off-season foot injury. If Dalton's foot is 100% come basketball season Cornett and Beverly will be a deadly combo....

One thing will all know about Perry Central in 2011/2012 is they will be well coached.

This season in the 54th district will be very good... 3 of the top 4 teams in the region are all in the same district.

The 54th draw will deff be interesting.

PCC will do just fine.
#7
I think they will b better than last yr. Huff and combs will really surprise ppl this yr. They had a Great state tourney game.
#8
they will be a good team! i look for huff to do alot more this season than last season!
#9
Huff will be better..
I am curious as to who and how they will be at the 4 and 5 this year..
#10
cornett and idk will be at that spot
#11
maybe the kelly kid if he shows anything in the pre-season
#12
Cornett I would say be at the four spot with kelly at the five...what u guys think?

yeah they will prob switch it up some but your prob right!
#14
From what I have seen, Kelly needs some work on his shot and his inside presence..
But with some work with Hatcher -- Anything is possible..
I could see Dalton at the 4 and Kelly at the 5..
Huff at 3, Trevor 2, Beverly 1.

I guess my question was - is it possible for them to bring someone else in at the 4 and 5 instead of Kelly and Cornett? Possibly pushing Cornett down to 3 and Kelly at 4?
#15
umm im not sure, havent seen the team yet, but i sure hope they can do that!
#16
Watch and see if Buckhorn isn't drawn with PCC first round of the 54th..
Guarantee it happens..
#17
lol, perry will beat them by 10 or more!

I'd say the starting five will look like this:

PG - Braxton Beverly
SG - Trevor Combs
SF - Austin Pray
PF - Kyle Huff
C - Dalton Cornett

I don't think Trevor Kelly is ready to start. lol.

They have a Freshman that I saw this summer, I think his name is Josh Garry, that I believe will play a lot and will by pass most of their big players. Garry is a warrior on the boards.

They have a good group returning and have a good coach there. They will be fine.
#24
I would say Back to Back region crowns.

#26
If PCC is smart they will play small ball and just light teams up
PG Beverly
SG Combs
SF JAYSEAN
PF Huff
C Cornett
