56th district 2009-2010
#31
Lee County has had a great history of underachieving since 2005, under Coach Wright. In this period of time Lee has had as much if not more talent than anyone else in the 14th region and escpecially the 56th district. With players like Pelphrey, Howard, Brandenburg, Charles, and Rich, Yet they have managed just 2 district titles and a 14th region All A. True this is not bad for a 5 year run however with their talent Lee Should have had alot more hardware.

Estill this summber is # 2 in District, 5-7 points behind Owsley, 2-3 points ahead of Powell and 7-8 points ahead of Lee

well lets see powell just handed two loses to estil and owsey. When powell played owsley last time they had been busy since 8 that morning with a camp and played before that game they were very tired. Last night they played estill first then owsley and beat them both. Also the first game powell played owsley they were missing 4 players ha only one starter. They beat estill then as well. so I would say they are number one in the district right now.

The 56th is a toss up this season.

the only people on here are from estill county.. so no matter what anyone does, people are gonna say estill even though powell county has beat them twice already this summer. and then with both teams rested up and full roster, powell beat owsley by 13... lee county isnt even in the picture right now, jackson county beat lee by 15 and powell beat jackson county by 12... so think what you want, but if the team stays together, powell has got it this year... and estill has yet to beat powell or owsley, so stop saying they are going to win.

for your information this is only summer ball and some of Estill County's players are getting ready for Football and are not playing Summer ball including Kenton Roberts.

Powell is playing well right now. Hard to get continuity with players showing up in summer for all teams.
I still see it as Owsley 1 Powell and Estill 2 and 2 and Lee right behind them. All 4 will be tight this season district will be as exciting as it has been in last 5 years as far as parity. Summer is for development not for wins. Hard to keep that in perspective.

Roberts missed about 4 gamesw this summer. Berryman and Williams 4 each. All teams play without parts of their teams in the summer.

well you can have your opinion. But A well rested Powell county team willl beat Owsley no problem every time pc has played owsley they have played a game right before so bring it on. I hope number 22 on estill learns to quit pulling players jersey contantly when he gets the ball solen because he will not get away with it any longer. It is a shame we have to deal with dirty players.Powell will win district!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow what's new

Upon further research Powell beat Owsley a week after the loss.

Estill has a kid that may be the difference in the 56th this it's 6ft 8 Daven Doety if he come on strong by the middle of the season he could turn this team around and be the differnce maker.

It is hard to judge who be where during summer ball! Teams usally don't don;t things they plan on doing during season. Owsley over looked Powell the second game after beating them pretty easy but Powell did play excellant that gaem. If Owsley plays together and smart it well be their district to lose, but Powell will be much improved. The 56th is a very hard district it does not matter who is top dog it is always a dog fight with all the teams. Good luck to all.

Even though lee lost 3 Starters(Charles, Pelphrey, Campbell) i still think they have a legitimate shot of winning the district. They'll have Pittman down low who could probably dunk from the free throw line if he wanted to. He is gonna impress alot of people this year down low. Also Gus Wise will be returning at most likely PG. He brings leadership and experience. When he is on, he is deadly from the three point line. Travis Mays a sophmore will most likely be starting at the other guard, he could be the next aaron charles so to speak. If he works on his control, he could be one of the best dribble penetration players in the region this year. Chase Baker another sophmore will most likely start at the SF position, he got some decent playing time last year as a freshman. He is a player that brings it every game and watch out because he could drain a three at anytime. The 5th spot we be open between Alex Gordon a senior that would provide another big body down low, Andrew Shelton a senior guard, also James Gilbert an up and coming freshman could also be good enough to start. Unfortunately im blanking on the rest of the players on the Lee County Bobcats.
