I'm NOT from Somerset. Not even close to it. No ties to it.

However, Cheuvront had 68 receptions in 13 games for 1,171 yards and 15 TDs. Went to camp at four D-I FBS schools (Kentucky, Marshall, Ohio, Northwestern). Visited three D-I FCS schools (Davidson, Morehead, Southern Illinois). Also recruited by Army, according to Yahoo! Rivals.

He's not a slouch.

Hard to imagine Mayfield is not represented. This takes away from validity of team.

Why is that a joke? Cam caught 68 balls for 1171 yards and 15 TDs on the year. That makes him #7 statewide in total receiving yards and top 5 in tds... Kid is a stud regardless of class.

He also visited Murray State, Southern Illinois and Furman for sure and I think Wofford as well. He's a legit selection.

Not having any Mayfield players is a joke. :lame:

Mayfield's coach must be the best in the business. He was able to overcome Williamsburg's 6(actually 5 since one was injured) all-state players with apparently little talent to win the state championship.:eyeroll:

Hall is a really good player, really good for Pikeville. The question I would have for PHS fans, If you put Chase in the red and white of Belfry, who from this past year's starting backfield does he replace? Not necessarily saying he could not replace one of them, but make your case and it better be a good one. Just for fun btw...

Nope. Not getting into that. Just saying any football program would have liked to had him in their backfield. Imo, Haywood would agree, and to say he wouldn't have touched the ball is more than a stretch.

I think it is probably a stretch too and I wish you would have argued a lil bit lol. Kind of gets boring on here out of season.

COMPOSITE FIRST TEAM/SECOND TEAM/HONORABLE MENTION LIST BY SCHOOL

Note: Players were SUPPOSED to be limited to one spot, but Middlesboro, Murray and Somerset each had one kid make it at two positions.

Harlan County (8-4) had five picks. Madison Southern, which ended Harlan County's season, had one pick.

Williamsburg had six picks, which was far more than two teams it got beat handily by: Wayne County (2) and Mayfield (again, 0).

Hall would not have started this past year at Belfry full time.

He would have played significant minutes and saw key snaps much like Dari did. He would have started a few games when Belfry was having the injury issues

I wish Estep was lining up for Belfry next year on both sides of the ball.

My point exactly. Belfry had so many good running backs to choose from, that it would have been hard to place him in there full time. However, having said that, imho, I think he is of the same quality talent wise as anyone, anywhere in the east, maybe the entire State. jmo.

Congratulations to all the players; special shout outs to the Harlan County players, Whitehead and Caldwell!!

You've heard the old saying about raising children...."it takes a village". Well it takes a village to feed Baby Zak!!! And I get to help do THAT rather than train him!! So proud of him!!!!

I will leave the training to Larkey and crew; they've done pretty good so far!

I must; however, wonder how good he would be if not for all the brothers he has had to fight through the years!

So there are TEAMS with 2-5+ kids. And Northern Kentucky as a region has 2 Confusednicker:. Oh the grease palming and political bs. There's every bit of 20-25+ kids in NKY who deserve an apology they will not get.

So much for journalistic integrity. :lame:

No Gut, just the AP director in Kentucky responsible for the lack of journalistic integrity who fell to favoritism and whatever else. If you can't see that from a NKY standpoint with two athletes representing an entire region while once again teams had 2-5+ plus athletes throughout the state ( other than NKY ), you and Chong might want to hang out less!

Lol! A lot of people would. Imo, there will be much more expected from him this season. He's going to be fun to watch. Very physical for his size.

Congrats to the young men who made this list. Lot of deserving players left out. :Shaking:

The AP team is a total joke. I am a WKY guy and for their to be 10 kids from Graves make the team is an absolute joke. No Tristan Luke at RB. Is the KY New Era a voting member. The kid is being looked at by Florida State and had 2000 yds his sophomore yr! The Mayfield Messenger should lose it's voting rights. I don't know how these 15 AP writers get picked anyways.
#54
The best I can tell, neither the Paducah Sun or the Kentucky New Era voted for the all-state team. That might explain why there are no Mayfield or Fort Campbell kids.

I'm at a loss to explain Graves County getting 10 kids mentioned.

If the AP wanted to get serious about its all-state team, it would recruit a few more voters, even if they aren't AP members. But my guess is the AP doesn't really care. It was required to put out a team and it did. Accuracy doesn't appear to be a real big concern. The AP isn't what it used to be, and I'm not just talking about the all-state football team.

The Mayfield Messenger new guy is a big Graves fan and he used his 10 nominations on 10 Graves Co kids. He chose to ignore all the Mayfield kids
#56
This list is a joke....NKY had 2 teams playing in the state championship games, and only 1 kid from those 2 teams make this list???? That's pathetic! Congrats to the kids that did make the team, but there were players from Highlands and NewCath that deserved to be on this team. At the very least this list should be renamed something along the of lines of "Kentucky part of the state, AP team."
#57
There were 141 (ONE HUNDRED FORTY-ONE) kids who made the list (at it takes MULTIPLE votes just to make honorable mention). Yet, folks still aren't happy (No Mayfield? Only two from all of NKY?).

I understand the complaints. I do. I get it. ... Because they are VALID. 100 percent.

On the flip side, like I said, there were a ton of kids to make the list. And in order to make room for more, folks would have to LEAVE OFF kids who clearly were deserving (or else they would NOT have made the list).

It's EASY to say, "Well, this kid should be on there." It's a lot harder to pull a kid off the team.

Also, when you vote, you only get a certain number. There will be more linemen because you vote for 10 OL (five 1T, five for 2T) and eight DL (four for first team, 4 for 2T) and something like 4 or 6 RBs (2 or 3 for 1T, 2 or 3 for 2T). Pretty sure FBs were included under RBs, but NOT sure if TEs were line or receivers.

But QB is a different animal.

For QB, you vote for TWO total. One for first team. One for second team. That's it.

As you can see in the list below, there's a lot of deserving QBs. Barker All-American. Hayes never lost as starter. Bonnafon signed with Louisville. Kuntz (who didn't even make it) will be a D-I QB. Sindelar is a 4-star recruit (possibly five-star). Koree Krupinski from Central Hardin beat McCracken on the road and state champ Collins and he did NOT make even honorable mention.

I do NOT want to make this personal, but for the Mayfield QB, who would the two QBs picked (considering Guhy is at a smaller school who played easier schedules computer wise compared to Hayes and Bonnafon and Houliston)?

I don't think you would pick Guhy but I would take him over Sizemore and Boone for sure and possibly over 1 or 2 others but I am not sure of their stats. Guhy's stats were equal that of Sindelar and had better comp average.

As for the small school easier schedule, not sure that is as clear cut in Mayfield's case. Clearly a tougher schedule than Caldwell's. Take out the required games with Fulton City, Fulton County and Caverna and their schedule strength is excellent by any standard. Considering the disadvantage of numbers it is even more outstanding.

Ft Campbell 89.7
McCracken Co. 115.5
Tilghman 105.4
Murray 99.3
Graves Co. 98.0
Russellville (2 Times) 99.7
Caldwell Co. 109.1 (The only loss by a TD)
Frankfort 93.5
Williamsburg 92.4

I don't think Guhy was a solid choice to make a point with as I don't think many would objectively say he would be one of the top 2

My complaint was simply that the local paper used all of his nominations on his favorite school.
