According to a source in Jamestown, to the best of their knowledge, Jaysean was eligible to play this year so I don't know why this even came up. I do not know what the official reason for his ineligibility, but I would be surprised if it was ineligibility to play in NYS. I know a lot of you maintain that I am a hater but that is not true -- just realistic and in the "second row" as far as information goes. I also heard a story about the reason he was there was for credit recovery. He didn't need to leave NYS for that which makes it look very suspect. The Logan, WV school already enrolled a WNY "transfer" so it might have looked like recruiting to Logan to have 2 "transfers" show up from WNY.

He had plenty of exposure in NYS, the University of Buffalo b'ball coach, Reggie Witherspoon watched him play many times and they are D-1. How come no other D-1 schools are recruiting him? I hate to say it, but he is a liability because as another poster said, he would not be any good to a team sitting on the bench. You still have to be a complete package for D-1: school is part of it. And don't start with shame on J'Town -- they worked really hard to keep him eligible to play but when the season is over, maybe he didn't care. It is always up to the player to be accountable for themselves.

If appealing the ruling turns out in his favor as another poster mentioned, good for him. It would be a shame to have his "senior" year wasted based on promises. Karma can be a b_ _ _ch.

Bylaw 6 is the transfer rule for domestic transfers.
You have to sit out a year unless you meet one of 9 criteria.
a) BONA FIDE CHANGE IN RESIDENCE
b) DIVORCE-
c) CHANGE OF CUSTODY
d) DEATH
e) BOARDING SCHOOL
f) NON ATHLETIC PARTICIPATION FOR THE PRIOR SCHOOL YEAR
g) REASSIGNMENT BY BOARD OF EDUCATION
h) TRANSFER FROM NON-MEMBER SCHOOL(in-state)
i) MILITARY ASSIGNMENT

Obviously he meets the first criteria.
So according to that he would be eligible...

BUT!
There are exceptions.

The exception that usually comes into play is...
If the change in schools is motivated in whole or or part by a desire
to participate in athletics at the new school

This is the one the I was told stopped him from playing.
A student is ineligible for athletics in this state if he or she
transfers from another state if the student was or would have
become ineligible in the state from which he or she transfers.

The likelihood of the first one being the issue after all of these out-of-state transfers across the creek were ruled eligible makes me think that the ineligibility in NYS is actually what caused it.
However, I'm just relaying info that I'm given by representatives from the school that are willing to share info.
If I saw it on paper I would tell you guys exactly what stopped it.
