Woo hoo finally get to say something. I did manage to attend the game tonight. Blume's lack of yards and carries and how early he was pulled was in fact due to an injury he suffered. I will get back to that in a moment. JC looked very impressive in the first quarter darted to a 21-0 lead. They slowed a bit in the second quarter but still managed a 24-0 halftime lead. 4 GC turnovers in the first half directly resulting in 17 points for JC. The entire JC backfield played great tonight. It was definently a run by committee type of night. Blume suffered an injury in the first half. It occurred on the punt he muffed. After muffing the punt he turned his back to the kicking team trying to recover the ball. At this time, a diving GC player hit Blume in the back of legs causing him to tweak, twist, sprain (whatever you like to call it) his ankle. From this point on, Blume participated in only one more offensive series and specialties. JC scored again to open up the second half building a 31-0 lead. GC finally struck in the 3rd quarter on an electrictrifying 81 yard punt return by Derrick Beach (cousin, I believe, of former Ashland RB and current UK RB Arliss Beach). This brought the score to 31-7 in favor of JC. The 4th quarter finally brought some real excitement into the game. JC scored again and led 37-7 after a failed PAT. Soon after, GC QB Roman Garred connected with Beach for a 27 yard TD pass with 5:52 remaining in the game. After a successful onside kick, Garred connected with Justin Bradley on the first play from scrimmage for a 49 yard TD strike with 5:40 remaining. This brought the score to 37-21. After a long scuffle and much official debating, JC came up with the next attempted onside kick by GC. JC sealed the game on this drive that ended with another JC TD producing the final score of 43-21.
