It's usually a percentage of your earnings for a month that goes to the church.

I think it comes from somehting called tenthing, which I believe Catholics started, but don't hold me to that. But I believe everyone was supposed to give 10% of their income to their church. Maybe it was even Jesus who said that. I'm not 100% sure, maybe someone has time to look it up. I'm sure its on wikipedia.

If it's like offering then I think you should give what you can.

It is a 10th of your earnings. Moses started it. If I am a member of a church & I have a payday of $1,000, I give $100 to the church.
Some people give more. A lot of people don't like to give because they think the church just wants their money. I think you should give. If your a member, you should help support your church. It goes to missionary, food banks, other ministries, bills, etc.
