Douglass vs St. Xavier - Boys Varsity Football 08/11/2023 | Live & On Demand (nfhsnetwork.com)

Douglass on their first possession picked up 14 yards on a run on their first play. Then lost a yard on the 2nd on a run a incomplete pass on 2nd down and a complete pass for 7 on 3rd down. They punted on 4th down. St. X got not return on the punt and only gained 3 yards on their first possession and punted. Douglass threw an interception on their 2nd possession.

After the interception St. Xavier had the ball 1st and 10 on the Bronco 21 yard line but turned it over on downs.

It looks like in the early going here that once again this season the Douglass defense is going to be the strength of the team as they have yet in 2 St. X possessions allowed a first down.

St. X gets on the board first with a 9 yard shuffle pass for a touchdown the extra point is good. The Tigers lead 7-0 with jsut over 2 minutes left in the first quarter.

Douglass had an excellent 2nd quarter the Tigers of St. X had a lot of trouble moving the ball vs the Bronco defense. Douglass has two nice drives in the 2nd quarter with some good passes from Cole Carpenter to lead Xavier 14-7 at the half.

St. X gets a touchdown to tie it at 14 with just over 7 minutes left in the 3rd quarter. A good game between two good teams.

Frederick Douglass answers back with a nice drive to score another touchdown to go up 21-14 on St. X with 3:00 minutes left in the 3rd quarter.

St. X answers back with a TD they go for the 2 point conversion but fail so with 1:13 left in the 3rd quarter Douglass leads 21-20.

The JV guys are in now for both teams here in the 4th quarter. Douglass was leading 21-20 after 3 quarters with the starters playing.
