(5) Georgetown College 70 (21) The Cumberlands 68
#1
Shadell Millinghaus hit two free throws and the No. 5 Georgetown College men's basketball team escaped with a tough Mid-South Conference road win over No. 21 University of the Cumberlands. The Tigers (21-3, 6-3) came out firing early in both halves, but needed late free throws to take the 70-68 win.

Quan Poindexter had the hot hand early with 12 of the team's first 17 points. He finished with game-high 18. However, foul trouble forced him from the game early. Calling on Millinghaus to step up.

The senior subbed in for Poindexter with 3:28 remaining with Georgetown trailing the Patriots (x-x, 5-4) 67-66. Just more than a minute later, Millinghaus was fouled and made one-of-two to tie the game. Jahyde Gardiner helped the Tigers take a one point lead, 68-67, also making one-of-two at the line. When UC's Will Gary missed the second of his foul shots, Millinghaus was there to clean up and push the attack in a 68-68 game.

He got to the lane for the foul and the rest is history.

Millinghaus finished with 16 points. Troy Steward add 13 points, 11 of which came in the final 20 minutes.

Georgetown saw a nine-point first half lead evaporate, but a Millinghaus bucket with 18 seconds left produced the fourth tie of the half and it remained 35 to the break.

The Tigers pushed it out again, holding several 10 point leads throughout the second half. However, the home team was not going quietly, eventually taking a rare lead 67-66. Missed free throws on both teams played a large role in the excitement down the stretch.

UC was one-of-four in the final four minutes, including missing back-to-back front sides of a bonus while leading by one. GC was four-of-six in the same span and twice missed opportunities to take leads with its misses.

The Tigers are back in action 4 pm Saturday hosting Life University.

Sounds like the Patriots blew this one.
