Another Wasteful Spending Story
#1
In 2009 LG was awarded $150 million taxpayer dollars and over $175 million in local and state tax relief. LG Michigan was to supply Obama motors (GM) with batteries for the Chevy Volt beginning in 2012, but GM is still buying the batteries from LG South Korea. LG said they need an additional $22 million to complete the remaining 5 production lines in the agreement.

Only half of the projected 440 workers have been hired to date, with several employees being paid to watch movies or to play cards because there was no work to be done.

Another case of government financial misconduct which has occured for decades...imagine that!

God forbid if someone ever mentions privatization. Interesting how greed cancels the potential upside of either ( private or other ) out!

I wonder how "we the people" impose sound economic city, county, state, and national growth? It's ashame we don't hear enough about the organizations who do accomplish positive growth and economic impact without imposing their will on others.

Again, that would make way too much sense!

I don't think this is a left or right issue: Unless you forget:

The Energy Policy Act of 2005 (Pub.L. 109–58)

I know Fox News was all over this one right? This law still effects our budget today:

"We the people" means absolutely nothing to this government, unless "We the people" actually end up doing something.

Very eloquently put. You have managed to capture and articulate the essence of the Tea Party movement perfectly in your statement. When thinking folks get enough of the liberal madness shoved down their throat, the result is a motivated voter. In this way, the true workings of self governance and the principles of freedom are enacted as envisioned and intended by our founding fathers. Without this process, in which, Americans rediscover the ideals of liberty and self governance, we would fall into a state of being completely regulated by the federal government ala the Obama vision, en-route to a liberal "fundamental transformation".

That revelation of the true value and meaning of liberty and freedom, moves one past the superficial bonds of the young democrat club and he begins to see that the survival of our way of life is dependent on each successive generation realizing our choices, are between freedom and self government or, socialistic oppression, (which our present administration likes couch in language such as "everybody doing his fair share") which of course, is nothing more than a by-line to justify governmental extortion of more and more working folk's money. In this way extreme left wing propagandist doctrines of social justice are sold to the people of this land. The progressive foxes are in the congressional henhouse, and whether traditional America survives is dependent on the voters being able to get past the daily superficial political food fight, which was conceived, initiated and propagated by liberal democrats.

All of this business involving green energy is based on the belief, (it's just a belief because there is no real scientific undoctored data to prove it's validity) that the ridiculously modest data which support of the notion that global warming is beyond scientific dispute and proven to be man made. The other half of the scientific community believes the earth's weather cycles and therefore warming and cooling trends are normal, and though we should all be good stewards of our environment, there is no viable alternative in existence to our use of fossil fuels. That view will never suffice the 'sky is falling' doomsday environentalists of Hollywood though. Hence, the list of government (translation---taxpayer) funded and failed green energy concerns;

A123: The battery maker received a $249 million
Abound Solar: The manufacturer of thin-film solar panels received a $400 million
Beacon Power: The flywheel energy storage company received a $43 million
Ener1: A subsidiary of the company, EnerDel, received an $118.5 million grant
Solyndra: The manufacturer of advanced solar panels received a $535 million
Fisker Automotive: The electric car maker received a $529 million
Nevada Geothermal Power: The firm received a $98 million
And then there is LG Michigan mentioned by OldSchool in the thread starter.

The point is this green stuff don't work yet. We can't use it to build our factories, fuel our industry or our homes. And, one is certainly not going very far on a charged-up chevy volt, maybe 20 miles using your air conditioner. But, this is the reality the liberal la-la's would have us accept. An American public reduced to golf cart transportation, where private sector economic competition has been eliminated by governmental intrusion and, with utilities severely regulated and rationed in a land where getting ahead is not possible. It wouldn't be fair after all. No, we're going to redistribute the wealth, everybody will have federally regulated health insurance that will only pay for 60% of actually health care received and yet will cost $20,000 a year for the average family. But, that's only the case if one attempts to earn his living via the antiquated and passe method of working and being self sufficient. The more highly favored way to make it in this life, if one listens to the democrats, is to just sign up for welfare and Uncle Sam will give you everything, including health care and we're not talking about bronze level care here either, it's 100% baby! And, to guarantee a worry free life all one must do is vote democratic. Just hide your eyes and cover your ears when they start throwing up news of a sleletonized military, credit downgrades, or a national debt guaranteed to be pushing 23 trillion by the end of Obama's second term. Yeah, "don't worry be happy."
